Chapter III: Devils…Monsters…
(Halo reference)
Rockwell, now twenty years old, stared down into a blood soaked valley. Memories of a night thirteen tears ago flashed in his mind. A tall, skeletal demon beckoning for him to join it seemed to appear in his mind. The raptor’s tail swayed behind the demon, a sharp, barbed growth at the end of its tail the only sign it was the Demon that Rockwell saw all those years ago. ‘Rockwell…I gave you the chance to join me…. Now look at the rage you caused upon my host?’ Out of the raptor’s skull rose a dark purple shape, twisted into the rough shape of a legless human with a twisted, tall crown on its head. ‘He’s been massacring so, so many villages for your idiocy.’ The specter’s voice seemed to come from nowhere and everywhere. It surrounded Rockwell like walls that slowly closed in on him. ‘I gave you the chance, boy…. And now the Quiet’s Host shall end your pathetic existence. Have fun…’
Edmund woke up in a small stone building. Above him, in the rafters, sat the Sand Devil, staring down at him eerily. It grinned when it saw the fear on his face. ‘No one can help you, Edmund…. You angered the Void and Its Host. Now suffer….’ The Demon lunged down onto Its target, unseen by the healers around It, tearing into Edmund’s flesh. The seven year-old in Rockwell awoke, and as he had years ago, Edmund ran.
He barely escaped the helaer’s building when a gigantic being that resembled a carboemys but with…tress and a small lake on it? Edmund looked up at that monolith of a tortoise, and knew what he had to do. He scrambled up the rough, rocky surface of one of the Oasisaur’s legs, not daring to look down. At the top, a giant adobe structure sat. It was shaped like the open mouth of a raptor, teeth made of the metal that formed the Obelisks. Then Edmund realized it wasn’t adobe…
It was the skull of a beyond gigantic creature.
