Chapter II
Part I
I began to track the Deinonychus with a rather large amount of ease, as I had tracked creatures for months before. I had known something was wrong with Pyrrhia long before anyone else had known, in the late spring, crops would shrivel up and die for no apparent reason, calves of our farmer’s flocks began to go missing, and sometimes, humans did too. I heard the creatures’s call again, this time it seemed to be much, much closer. Then the creature burst from the undergrowth; it was pure black with dark gray lines along it’s back, and it’s claws looked like they were forged of silver. Yet it seemed to disappear when I looked at it directly. It seemed to simply appear next to me, and with a triumphant scream, slashed out at me. I parried with my axe, but the claws had slightly cut into one of my veins, and it began to bleed heavily. But the slight wince of the pain was all that the deinonychus needed, and it slammed its tail into my head. I fell unconscious at the creature’s feet.
When I awoke,I was surrounded by deinonychus’ and one began to speak, like a human being. “What shall we do with the prisoner?” It said. The first one that I spoke was the black and gray one. “I suppose we kill it,” a brown one remarked. “No, no, no, we don’t need prisoners, do we? No, we don’t, and it’d be too much hassle to keep him here, we should release him.” Said a dark bluish gray one.
“I suppose’” said the first speaker, then I fell unconscious once more.
I didn’t remember anything afterwards, yet I knew the words spoken by many behind the first four, the constantly repeated words “The Deinonychus Republic”. Constant, unending murmuring at the back.
