ARK: Survival Evolved & Ascended Companion
Hi Tina! I am so glad that you like the story. It is really encouraging. Sadly, Lamprey kept forgetting so he told me he was going to stop his part of it. I was originally going to cancel it, but if you really enjoyed it and want me to continue it, I will happily do so. I also don’t want to take away space from your story in Shadowmane. I also have a story that I will pick up again in insect swarm. Also, if you have any ideas for the plot of this story, I will gladly listen to them and use them since I have no ideas as of right now.
I am so glad that you are going to be writing and I hope it goes well. I am excited to read it and will be happy to provide feedback or tips. I love helping people and it is never a bother if you ask for help. I saw your request for any tips and am happy to give a couple big ones right now and maybe a couple more along the way. Again, no matter what I say you do not have to do it and I am not criticizing your story. I have helped people before and that’s what they thought I was doing, so I would like to mention that right now. Can’t wait to see how your story comes along!
Tip 1: This is a tip I give to every new fanfictioner that asks for tips. Your story is your own, which means, you have full control of what goes in and what doesn’t. You don’t have to meet the wants of others. What you think while you are writing comes out in it. If you are frantically writing something for someone else, it will be a frantic story with many mistakes. If you write something that you want to write, not that someone else will want to read, your story will be a beautiful piece of art. I always write how I like to write, and I always thought there were no true fans, but here I am writing to one. They are out there. Don’t worry about it.
Tip 2: Punctuation is key. Now when I say this, I don’t mean you need to have perfect grammar and punctuation. If you understand what each punctuation mark does, you can use them wherever in your story. It does not have to be grammatically correct. Put commas where you want pauses, not when it is always correct. Put the necessary punctuation in to make your story read how you want it to. A couple big things to make notice of is you don’t want to use all caps. An exclamation point does more than you think. All caps is for loud booming voices and things on a computer screen such as diagnostics. Same with the actual numbers. It looks better if you say one rather than 1. The 1 stands out and people will be drawn to it. It also takes the flow from the sentence. When someone new speaks, always make a new paragraph. It makes it easier to read. And all the dialogues don’t need to end with so and so said or replied. If it is a two way conversation, make sure the first speaker is noted, and through in a so and so said occasionally. The new paragraphs you put in will do the rest. Lastly, if your character is saying something, it also does not have to follow any grammar rules. I like to say what the character says in my head. Then I write it with whatever missing letters and commas. It makes their speech sound like them, no monotone.
Sorry for the long post. I hope these tips helped and will be happy to give more. I will give as much support as I can and am excited to see where your story goes.
