Also, please note that 40 stones is for a low level one ( 40 worked for me on turtles up to level 20) The higher its level the more stones you will need. Also, when trying to tame higher levels turtles, make sure you have the materials on you to repair your slingshot, as if you are using a primitive one, you may have to repair it multiple times before the turtle is knocked out.
