These are actually a real species alive today their scientific name is achatina nigeria and their common name is giant African land snail they are the largest species of snail alive today and can grow to the size of a rabbit. They are often kept as pets and one of the most kept invertebrate as pets apart from lizard feeders but those don’t really count as they are kept as feeders instead of pets
