To make Chitin Chestpiece, combine Chitin, Hide, and Fiber in a Smithy for 5 seconds. The Chitin Chestpiece unlocks at level 37 and requires 18 Engram Points.

Armor made from Chitin, it is quite prone to overheating, however, it applies 50 armor a piece. This is quite good, and will hold you over until you aqcuire flak armor. Chitin Armor's durability is a bit low, however.
