How the ARK Stat Calculator Works
Dododex’s ARK stat calculator works backwards from a creature’s stats to show how its level points were spent. It works for wild, tamed, and bred creatures in ARK: Survival Ascended (ASA) and ARK: Survival Evolved / Ultimate Mobile Edition (ASE / UME).
How are creature stats distributed in ARK?
Every level after level 1 gives a creature one stat point, and each point lands in a random stat. That’s roughly a 1 in 7 (14.3%) chance per stat, per level. A level 120 creature has 119 wild points to spread around. Torpor is the exception: it goes up with every level. Once tamed, every level gives you a point to spend yourself. Those are tamed points.
Why should I check a creature’s stats before taming or breeding?
Two creatures at the same level can be very different. One might have most of its points in Melee or Health, the other in Oxygen. Checking its stats shows you which creatures are worth taming, leveling, or breeding.
What are “wasted” points?
For some creatures, a stat can’t be upgraded, so any points assigned to it are “wasted” and discarded. On ASE, wild creatures can’t have their Movement Speed upgraded (in ASA, Movement Speed is no longer a wasted stat). For swimming creatures, Oxygen doesn’t apply, so those points are discarded too. Even when Oxygen can be upgraded, many players still consider it a waste since it’s usually the least valuable stat.
Why don’t my creature’s stats match?
Check that the level, creature type (wild, tamed, or bred), and game (ASA or ASE) are correct. For tamed creatures, try widening the taming effectiveness range. If you play with custom stat settings, see the next question.
Does it work on unofficial servers or singleplayer?
Custom stat settings aren’t supported yet. The calculator uses official server settings, so if your server or singleplayer game changes stat multipliers, results may be off or nothing may match.
