ARK: Survival Evolved & Ascended Companion

In the beginning, humanity on Earth was collapsing. Wars, pollution, overpopulation, and something called Element — a mysterious alien substance — started destroying the planet. Element could power technology and mutate living things, but it was extremely dangerous. Giant corporations fought over it, nations collapsed, and eventually Earth became almost unlivable.
To save humanity, a scientist named Helena Walker and other survivors became involved in a massive project called the ARK Project. The ARKs were gigantic space stations built by humanity. Each ARK was like a floating artificial ecosystem filled with dinosaurs, creatures from Earth’s past, and cloned humans. Their purpose was to train humans to survive harsh conditions so they could one day reclaim Earth after Element corruption was defeated.
The Overseers — powerful AI systems — controlled the ARKs and tested humans constantly. People on the ARKs lost most memories after resurrection and were forced to survive from nothing. Every time someone died, the ARK could clone and revive them again. The tests were designed to create stronger humans capable of surviving Earth’s future.
The first major story follows Helena Walker, an Australian explorer who wakes up on The Island with no memories. She meets several other survivors, including Rockwell, Nerva, Mei-Yin Li, and Edmund Rockwell. Helena studies the creatures and slowly discovers that the ARKs are artificial. Nerva becomes a brutal Roman-style tyrant who enslaves survivors. Mei-Yin becomes a legendary warrior known as the Beast Queen. Rockwell starts as an intelligent scientist but becomes obsessed with Element.
On The Island, survivors eventually discover giant Obelisks floating in the sky and hidden underground technology. They fight powerful bosses: the Broodmother, Megapithecus, and Dragon. Defeating them grants access to the Tek Cave, where the truth is revealed. Deep inside is the Overseer, an AI controlling the ARK. After defeating it, survivors “ascend,” meaning they move to the next level of testing and gain partial memories.
Then comes Scorched Earth, a desert ARK suffering system failures. Water is scarce, storms rage constantly, and wyverns dominate the skies. Helena, Rockwell, Mei-Yin, and others arrive there after ascending. They discover that this ARK is damaged and partly abandoned. The Manticore boss controls much of the chaos. Rockwell becomes increasingly corrupted by Element and begins experimenting on himself.
Next is Aberration, one of the darkest ARKs. It suffered catastrophic damage after being struck by an orbital defense system during Earth’s war against Element corruption. Because of the damage, sunlight is lethal in many regions and the ecosystem mutates horribly. Nameless, Reapers, Seekers, and other twisted creatures roam underground biomes glowing with radiation and Element. Rockwell fully loses his sanity here. He injects himself with Element repeatedly and transforms into a monstrous tentacled creature fused with the ARK itself. Survivors eventually defeat Rockwell’s monstrous form, but his consciousness survives.
After Aberration comes Extinction, where survivors finally return to Earth. But Earth is devastated. Element corruption has spread everywhere. Massive Titans roam ruined cities, and humanity is near extinction. A city sanctuary protected by a sophisticated AI remains one of the last safe places. Helena has now become Homo Deus — an evolved being after repeated ascensions — and tries to guide humanity.
The Titans are servants of the corrupted King Titan, a gigantic world-ending creature connected directly to Element. Survivors must tame or defeat the Desert Titan, Forest Titan, and Ice Titan before confronting the King Titan itself. During the final battle, survivors, Helena, Mei-Yin, and others manage to defeat the King Titan and purge much of Earth’s corruption. Earth finally becomes habitable again, seemingly ending the ARK Project’s original purpose.
But the story continues.
Genesis Part 1 reveals that survivors are inside a gigantic simulation supervised by an AI companion called HLN-A, based on Helena’s personality. The simulation tests survivors across multiple biomes: ocean, volcano, arctic, bog, and lunar regions. The purpose is to prepare humanity for a new mission beyond Earth. Throughout Genesis, glitches reveal that Rockwell somehow survived again and infected the simulation itself.
Rockwell has now become a horrifying cosmic entity made almost entirely of Element corruption. He spreads through systems like a virus. By the end of Genesis Part 1, Rockwell attacks directly, but survivors escape.
Genesis Part 2 takes place aboard a gigantic colony spaceship called the USS Arat Prime, carrying humanity to another world. The ship is enormous, essentially functioning like a traveling civilization. Rockwell has infected the ship internally, turning entire regions into living flesh-like corruption. Survivors battle through both Eden-like ec
