"The Day ARK Punished Me for Wanting a Thylacoleo"
I don’t even know where to start, but I’m writing this so no one else has to go through what I did.
I spent hours searching the Redwoods for a Thylacoleo.
Not exaggerating 3 hours straight, nothing.
So I did what any sane ARK player would do: I stopped hunting and prepared properly.
I built:
a trap
campfires
a preserving bin
a bed
I even cooked around 50 prime meat on campfires and stored it in the preserving bin, just so I wouldn’t lose effectiveness when the tame finally happened.
To make it even safer, I tamed a Parasaur and set it on turret mode and carried it with argy so that I could find a thyla.
Everything was ready so that when I found a Thyla, nothing could go wrong.
Then I searched again.
2 more hours. Nothing.
At this point I was frustrated, so I brought my already-tamed Thyla and started clearing the Redwoods, killing everything to force respawns. I did this for another 2 hours.
That’s when something started killing me on the ground.
I turned around…
A level 150 Thylacoleo
Perfect colors
3920 HP
Just randomly walking on the ground like it wanted to mock me.
I somehow survived, dragged it toward my trap, but realized I needed my Argentavis to pick it properly. So I parked my tamed Thyla far away and went back with my Argy.
Big mistake.
The wild Thyla almost killed my Argy level 250, around 10k HP, nearly died multiple times. I spent one full hour trying to:
pick it up
save my Argy
reposition the Thyla
not die
Finally, finally, it was almost inside the trap.
Then a few Raptors spawned.
They aggroed my tamed Thyla.
Before I could react, my own Thylacoleo attacked the wild one.
I tried everything:
whistling passive
picking up dinos
separating them
Nothing worked.
My tamed Thyla killed the perfect level 150 Thylacoleo.
After hours of searching, preparing, cooking prime meat, setting up alarms, and fighting the game itself it died by my own hand without me touching it.
I rage quit.
I uninstalled the game.
If you’re reading this:
Never bring a tamed Thylacoleo while hunting a wild one.
ARK will find a way to punish you.
Learn from my pain.
