Chapter 3 ~ phoenix from the ashes ~

Eyes opened, visible was a thatched roof, fish and plants hung from the ceiling, the creature sat up and looked around the room on one side, “What happened..” he said. He was sitting on a brush mattress, quite comfortable. In front of him was a little fireplace with a cooking pot and some crude dishes and pottery. He turned around to look at the other side of the room and nearly leapt out of his skin, lying on a second bed next to him was his worst nightmare, Salizar. ‘No no no no, am I dead?! No can’t be, this isn’t heaven. He’s here.. and my back aches..’ he thought. Sure enough he was alive, but how? Last he could recall he had Salizar pinned to his terminal, green flashing monitors all around with streaks of lightning sparking around them. Salizar stirred. The creature tensed as he did, then Salizar’s eyes opened slowly, he looked around him, catching the gaze of those green eyes. “Caesar.. how did you, damn.. I must have saved the both of us..” Salizar said. Caesar just looked at him confused, not sure what to say or what was happening. “Simple simple Caesar, you don’t get it? … Cloning.” Salizar said gesturing to his now unscarred face. “But-” Caesar started before being cut off, “Save your butts Caesar, someone is coming..” the door to the hut slowly swung open, and a surprising figure entered. A sea serpent. “Oh you’re awake, I am glad you ssurvived. Neither of you were moving when we found you.” The serpent said. “Where are we?” Caesar asked. “You’re in my home at my village, quite a sstep down from our old home. But until our emperor returnss from his quesst-” “wait-” Caesar interrupted, “Who’s your emperor?” He said. Salizar shifted uncomfortably. “Well, our old emperor stayed behind during the great fall, of course you wouldn’t know what that is. I’m not too sure myself. But the next in line and rightful heir is general Seascale, a great warrior and leader.” The serpent said. “You’re from Pandora?!” Caesar asked. “Yess yess, you know of it?” The serpent asked. “We’re from Pandora! And I traveled with General Seascale on his quest!” Caesar said. “Could thiss be true? Wait here, I will fetch our leader!” The serpent said excitedly slithering out of the hut. Salizar was looking around the room as if searching for an escape. “What’s wrong Salizar? Worried they’ll find out who you are?” Caesar said with a smug expression. “Yes! If they find out I’m the one their Emperor is hunting they’ll kill me! I didn’t come back just to die within the first half hour of consciousness!!” Salizar said in a panicky tone. “Serves you right.” Caesar said. “Caesar, you can’t let them kill me! You need me… if we are on Lush that can only mean one thing.. you won’t survive without my knowledge here!” Salizar said. “I can’t survive on the peaceful Ark we sent the Pandorans to? Lie all you want Salizar I’m not buying in.” Caesar said. “You fool, we may be on Lush but where is Lush!” Salizar said angrily. “In space just like all the other Arks.” Caesar said. “I wouldn’t be so sure of that..” Salizar said. Just then the guy door swung open. “Is it true, you traveled with General Seascale?” An older Seaserpent asked, the one they talked to before standing behind him. “Yes, and we succeeded in our quest, sort of..” he said glancing at Salizar. “Then.. where is he?” The serpent elder asked. “I’m, not sure.. we were.. separated.” Caesar said. The elder looked between them suspiciously “you know..” he said in a deeper tone, “Seascale told me before he sent us away that the fiend he was hunting, the one who destroyed Pandora, was a mesopithicus..” the elder pulled a shining trident off of his back and pointed it at Salizar’s neck. “Now.. how can I be sure said mesopithicus isn’t in this room as we speak..”
