Chapter 1

The Egg and the Survivor

It was early in the morning. Two Rexes, Radeon and Edna, were sleeping at their nest near the volcano. Radeon started to wake up when the egg started to crack. The Rexes nest in the north area, close to the snow and between the two mountains. Radeon got up and went to check the egg, and the egg started to crack. Radeon gasped in excitement. “Edna. Edna, wake up. Our egg is about to hatch.” Radeon said. Edna started to get up. “What? Wait… oh my god. For real?” Edna said. She looked at the egg and was surprised. “Yeah. I can’t wait to see her. We’ve been waiting for this for weeks. We could lay 15 more before the Doomsday.” Radeon said. The egg broke and a small, dark orange-blue Rex came out. “Whoa. Look at the colors.” Radeon said. Doomsday was the dreaded day of August 18, 2024, 52 weeks from today. That day was rumored to be the day the Tek Cave explodes, the volcano erupts, and a dino spawns. The Savage Acrocanthosaurus. The deadliest dinosaur in all of ARK. It had spawned before, and the islands that it spawned on were lost to history. Then, as Edna was going to grab the baby, a raptor went to pounce at the baby, then before the adults could get the raptor, the baby Rex grabbed the raptor and it died instantly. It was Level 65. “What the heck? He’s powerful.” Radeon said. “Yeah. Hey, buddy. Come here.” Edna said. The Rex went over to the adult Rexes. “What should her name be?” Radeon said. “Well, she’s strong, she looks amazing, she’s quick, and a lot of stuff. I think… Queen.” Edna said. “What? That’s perfect. Let’s get a nametag and put it on her implant.” Radeon said. Edna nodded and went over to her implant. She pulled out a small ball that she could use to name creatures. She put it on Queen’s implant. “Queen,” Edna said to the ball. It got connected to the implant. Her name was now Queen. “Let’s get her some food,” Radeon said. Edna nodded, but when they were about to leave, something hit Edna’s neck. “What? Half-torpor. Oh, no! It’s them! RUN!!” Radeon yelled. He grabbed the baby and they tried to leave. Then another shot went off and Edna fell to the ground. Radeon threw the baby away and it ran away from the nest. “Get the baby!” Someone yelled. “Man, get him NOW!” Another person yelled. They went to get him, and then Radeon started attacking the group. The baby jumped into the river as Radeon went down. “NO!!! Man, get the baby, or else you’re going to the barn!!” Someone yelled. Melvin nodded and ran towards the baby. He was called Man by his tribe because he was a slave. He wanted the baby to get away. Melvin grabbed the baby and secretly put a teleporter on the Rex’s implant. “Okay. Queen. Please find Moonshot.” He said. The Rex teleported away into the redwoods. Then his co-boss came over and saw him. His Giga looked down at Melvin. “I’m sorry. He just disappeared.” Melvin said. “Yeah, right. I think you deserve 30 hours in the barn.” The other guy said. His Giga grabbed Melvin and threw him into a cage on his back.

The Rex was running through the redwoods for a few hours until a Thyla tried to attack her. The Rex screeched, grabbed the Thyla, and scratched its implant. The Thyla died soon after. The Thyla had scratched Queen’s leg and she couldn’t walk very well. She started to hop on her other leg. She started to eat the meat. Then, she heard a noise. RUSTLE! Something was in a bush. It was coming out. Queen ran towards the bush and grabbed it. Then it tried to throw her away and Queen grabbed her. Queen was surprised. It wasn’t a Thyla or a Carno. It was a survivor. She pulled out a shotgun. “Hey. I won’t hurt you. I thought that was a Thyla. But it’s you.” Queen said. “How can you talk?” The survivor said. “It’s because of my mutation. I was hatched in the wild, from two Rexes who died in front of me. My mother, Edna, and my father, Radeon. I look a lot different from other Rexes. I have… uh… according to my stats, I’m unclaimed and have 1200% melee and 950% movement. My name’s Queen.” Queen said. “Unclaimed? By what?” The survivor said. “Look. It’s how it works. When the baby’s parents die, the baby becomes free to be claimed by a tribe. A tribe tried to get me, and then this guy named Melvin helped me. He teleported me into the redwoods.” Queen said. The survivor put down the gun. “Okay. Okay. Wait, Melvin. That guy… he’s a slave of ARK’s deadliest tribe ever. Giganotosaurus Reaper R. And they are extremely dangerous. You’re lucky to be alive.” The survivor said. “Yeah. I can’t walk since a tiger attacked me. You need to claim me and carry me back to your tribe.” Queen said. “Good idea. We got raided by them last week. We need powerful tames or else we’ll all either die or become slaves. And they only want to make the boys slaves. If you’re a female, you’re going to die.” The survivor said. “Oh, no. You’re a female, right? Are you part of Moonshot, the tribe Melvin told me to find?” Queen said. “Yes. Melvin is trying to escape the grasp of Giganotosaurus Reaper R. Look, you aren’t the only creature here with a mutation,” The survivor said. She crouched down and held out her left arm, and Queen looked at her implant. “Whoa. Your stats are insane. Katniss, tribe of Moonshot, melee 590%, movement 600%, fortitude 195. Level 12. You have a huge implant mutation.” Queen said. “Yeah, I do. That’s the reason for my insane stats. The health is almost 1000. Your max HP is almost 50000. Queen, you need to help us stop them. We’ll heal you and ensure we do not fall to Giga Reaper. Together, we can get some insane tames and stop them.” Katniss said. She picked up Queen and used her implant to claim the baby. “Let’s get back to base. It’s in the west portion of the island, near the snow area and in the large hills.” She said. They both walked out of the forests and towards the hills in the west.
