On the Center, the volcano island in the north has a south beach where a lot of Pyromanes spawn for me and if your in the water already, they can't set you on fire.

So what I do:

1. Sit in the water, get close enough to agro them or just shoot them with a crossbow.

2. Make sure you can withstand their damage while you damage them

3. Once they do the roar, you want to quickly get on it. For me, the ride pop-up is small but just spam it as you get close enough to it's side

4. Attack any and all land dinos, you have to be on fire to start the tame, it's based off the fire you CONSUME from your attacks and from killing dinos.

Note; ctrl+LMB to consume fire from living creatures, I've seen this give tame progress and reset the 30 second timer so you don't get kicked off.

Once you get one, it's easier to get another since they protect you from fire while on your shoulder or while riding.
