Sodden has earned Terad’s trust. Can he keep it that way?
The sun’s first light flowed over The Island, signaling the beginning of a new morning. The light flowed towards the western end of the island, and in the midst of a large horde of Parasaurs, a group of survivors, walking with their tames, were trekking across the hills. In the front was a Carcha, and next to it was a Giga. Terad sat on the Giga, and Sodden sat on the Carcha, both leading their group towards their destination. “I have not been on this side of the island in a long time.” Terad said. Sodden chucked and said, “I hear it’s a beautiful place. Many players sat on this side of the island over many years. They’d once come here to be safe from wars going down between tribes in the swamp.” Terad turned to him right then. “You know… you’re going to be busy. It could take you a while. But I know now that you… you aren’t that much as a threat.” Terad said. “Uh… there was this group on the mountain. Their names were Rod…” Sodden said, but Terad interrupted and yelled, “Rod!? That guy… something about him just doesn’t do well on me. His tribe has been attacking my base for months. I do not understand… you know. If you persuade him to ally with you, make sure he doesn’t come near me or my friends. Listen to me.” Terad said. He leaped onto the Carcha and grabbed Sodden by his shirt. “There will be dire consequences if you ever let that guy hurt, or try and kill, one of my tribe leaders! Do not break my trust. And do not leave this Ark without us. And one last thing. If you ever step foot into Aberration…” Terad said. Then the Giga bucked him off. “Dude, stop! Just let him do what he wants! Like he’s even thinking of ascending off the Island!” Someone yelled from behind Sodden. “And besides, Terad, never mention the… reason why we’re terrified of Aberration.” Another person said. Terad got up, growling in anger, then climbed back onto his Giga. “Just… stay in my lane. You do not want to know what happens if you don’t.” Terad said deeply. Sodden nodded then the Carcha ran off. “Terad, what the heck?” One of the other tribe leaders asked, as they walked to Terad. “I don’t want him with Rod. Not after what he did to Serenity.” Terad said. “Bro, that was months ago! Let it go!” The person said. “Yeah, I get why you hate it. I will never forget Rod’s actions.” Terad said. “Guys! The past is in the past. Stop complaining about why we never reached Extinction!” Serenity yelled from behind. Then everyone except Terad went to catch up with Sodden. Terad just sat there while the others walked away. He was very mad. “Sodden… he cannot be with Rod. He can’t trust Rod. That stupid Rod. Rod… rod… rod…” Terad growled. He kept growling Rod’s name until his throat became hoarse. “Ugh… forget it. I’m only with Sodden to help him, anyway. When all is done, he will be ours, and will forever be.” Terad said. Then his Giga roared and stomped through the trees, trying to catch up with the others.
After an hour of walking through the morning chill, Sodden could see the shore, reaching out to the snow. There were icebergs throughout the water, and behind it was a small island with crystals scattered across. Then at the corner of the shore was a large, open plains, with a stegosaur group fighting a pack of hyeanodons. Then a small group of Ceratosauruses stormed to the Stegos and let out a huge roar, causing the stegos to freak out and swing their tails everywhere. Sodden looked over the hunting area, and was ready to lead his friends down to attack the creatures. Then someone called out his name and got him to stop. “Wait! Sodden, hold on! Stop!” Serenity yelled as she ran with her Giga down to Sodden. Before Sodden could question her, she pointed down to the ground, at a saddled Stego. “There’s a tamed Stego down there. We can’t just rampage over everyone. We could accidentally hurt him!” Serenity said. Sodden noticed the saddled Stego and saw a person on it. Sodden hopped off and walked to the Stego, then the person on it looked down. He turned around and saw Sodden in front of him. “Oh, hey. Uh… yeah, okay. I’lll just go.” The person whimpered as he hopped off the Stego and ran away. Sodden was speechless. “Uh… okay? I was just gonna tell him to… whatever. Wait! You left your Stego!” Sodden yelled. But no one came out. Sodden sighed then got on his Carcha. The Carcha inserted itts teeth deep into one of the Cerato’s bodies, then it screeched, ttrying to get out. But it then started slowing, and then fell asleep. Then the Carchaa ate some meat from it, and the other Ceratos ran away. “Okaay. Time for the small fishes.” Sodden said. He put on his scuba gear and took out a sword. Then he went under the water himself, looking for a jellyfish. He found a light blue creature, sliding towards him. Sodden shot it down with a bow then shot a nearby fish. Then he rose to the surface and saw Terad in front of him. “Oh, hey. How you doing?” Sodden said. No response. “Dude? It’s time to journey to the swamp.” Sodden said. No response again. Terad was silent. “Terad? Is something wrong?” Sodden said. Terad finally opened his mouth and said, “There is something wrong. When you met Rod, did he talk about Serenity… at all? Mentioned her?” “Uh… yeah. He just said she was lucky to be with me.” Sodden said. “Okay. The person who almost killed Serenity with a reaper says she’s lucky to be with you? Yeah, listen. You need to keep Rod away from her. I don’t like their tribe in the slightest. Must I remind you that the Carcha army that attacked our base yesterday was theirs? Rod was up there, because he was waiting for the Carchas to destroy us.” Terad said. “Waiit… hold on. What… wait. Rod and his team were the ones that were part of the Ravage?” Sodden asked, confused. “Yes. Every survivor in this Ark, no, all Arks, has heard of the Ravage. The Ravage went down in Aberration. It’s the reason why we never reached Extinction. If you intend to leave, ever leave, or even attempt to ascend… you must stay off Aberration. Who knows what could happen if Rod ever allied with you? He’d want to kill her. Keep Rod away.” Terad growled. He stormed away with his Giga. Sodden was speechless. Then Serenity came over. “Sodden, I do not believe Rod would try and hurt you.” Serenity said. “No. I must keep his trust. If that means staying away from Rod, then so be it. It’s the only way I can… well… you know.” Sodden said. He got on his Carcha and started walking into the jungle. The rest of the group started to follow.
