Chapter 28: With great power…
—By SunnyFox57
Aragorn paced back in forth in him and Arianna’s bedroom in the mansion. Arianna sat on the bed, sipping tea while watching him. “There was nothing at that school, nothing at the mayor’s house, nothing nothing nothing!! No clue as to why were here, who brought us here and so forth!! We need to find a way back home. I CAN’T stand it here!!” Aragon growled. Arianna took another sip of her tea, waiting for her husband’s temper to cool a bit. “I don’t trust this “Sylveevee” woman…in fact I don’t trust any of them!! What if they’re spying on us?! I don’t believe that smirking Samuel wants to help us all go home at all! There’s something weird about him…. I don’t know what though. We need to go.” Arianna cocked her head at him. “Why? Why do we need to go? Why do you feel like this?” She asked calmly.
Aragorn pressed his hands against his forehead. “Because we can’t trust any of them! What if they try to kill us!! Where are Jaquin and Josephina?! We have to find a way home!!There’s a million reasons!” Aragorn snapped. Arianna set down her cup of tea and walked over to him. She wrapped her hands around his. “But why do you ACTUALLY feel like this, huh?” She asked, already knowing the answer. Aragorn lowered his head, shamefully. “Because you’re afraid. You’re afraid of being stabbed in the back, being betrayed. You don’t want to trust anyone because if you trust someone and they get to close, if anything happens to someone it hurts. You don’t want anyone you care about to die on your watch. You’re afraid of dying as well. You’re afraid.” Arianna whispered.
Aragorn sighed. Arianna reached out and lifted his chin, so that he faced her. She locked eyes with him. “It’s okay to be afraid. It’s okay to be wary of people but that doesn’t mean you have to push everyone you don’t know away. It’s okay to trust some people.” Aragorn gazed at her with gentle eyes. His arms circled her waist and pulled her close. “You’re right. I’m sorry. Will you help me do better?” Aragorn asked. Arianna smiled. “I’ll always be here to help. I’ll always be here for you.” She said and wrapped her arms around the back of his neck. Their faces grew close close and their lips touched, as they kissed.
The door suddenly opened and Jack and Jay walked in. “Ewww…DISGUSTING…” Jack said, scrunching his nose at their parents. “Revolting, simply revolting.” Jay said, giving them a stern look. They both began fake gagging. Aragorn and Arianna broke apart, but Aragorn still had his arm around her waist. “What do y’all need” Arianna asked. “We came to see if y’all were awake yet. Emma is downstairs.” Jay said. Jack ran his fingers through his hair. “Okay. You may leave.” Arianna said. They promptly did so. Arianna turned to face her husband. “Are you ready?” She asked.
Downstairs the Petersons and Sylveevee’s group gathered in the dining room. The sun was rising in the sky, in the midst of bright colors. Yellow, orange, purple… and so much more. Aragorn crossed his arms and took a breath. Queen Sylveevee looked tense and Drake had a cross look on his face every time he glanced at her. Emma was braiding her hair in the corner of the room, watching the adults.
“So….What do we need to do now?” Arianna asked, breaking the silence. Skyocean scratched his head. “Maybe we can start by knowing where you went yesterday.” Drake snarled to Sylveevee. Sylveevee’s eyes narrowed. “Like I have to tell you!” She spat. “Well some of us deserve to know!!” Drake snapped. Sylveevee opened her mouth to retort. “ENOUGH!!!” Aragorn bellowed. They all stopped and looked at him.
They all turned to look at him. “What is it now?” Sylveevee snarled. Aragorn’s eye twitched with irritation and his hands balled into tight fists. Arianna gently slipped one of her hands through one of his and squeezed it. Aragorn took a deep breath. “We need to stop fighting.” Arianna said. “We’re all at a disadvantage. None of us trust each other. We all want to go home.” Moonhigh and Sunhigh nodded in agreement. “Fear keeps us from trusting each other. It’s okay to be wary of one another but we don’t have to fight all the time. If we work together we can all find a way home.” Arianna said.
“We all(most of us) have something in common. We all have great power. Even if we don’t have “superpowers” we can all do great things. We can work together. It’s time to be responsible and work together. Make peace so that we can find a way home.” “Umm…how do we do that?” Jack asked. Jay elbowed him. “The boy is right. How DO we find a way home?” Drake asked. “Maybe there’s some kind of power source. Like the black obelisk seems to draw the angery, hate emotions out of us. Maybe there’s a opposite. A…good version of it. Some kind of relic or something that could help us get home?” Aragorn contemplated.
Sylveevee shifted uncomfortably on her feet. “But that could be anywhere. We’d have to search this whole world for it!!” Emma cried. “That would take forever.” Aragorn muttered darkly. Arianna shot him a look. “Actually….I might know where it is. I went there yesterday….with Sunhigh and Moonhigh.” Sylveevee said softly. Drake whirled to stare at her, bewildered. “And you tell us this now?!?!” Sylveevee glared at him. “Don’t start fighting again now!!” Aragorn snapped. Arianna cleared her throat and he inhaled.
Sylveevee led the way down a dark hallway. “This way.” She called. They walked until they came to a wooden door with white markings on it. Slowly she turned the handle. They all entered quietly. It was a large, bright cave filled with white crystals. The white crystals hung from the ceiling and sprouted from the floor. *Drip, drip, drip* went a tiny drip of water. It was leaking from a hole in the ceiling into a crystal clear small pool of fresh water in the corner of the cave. A cold breeze blew the pins out of Emma’s hair and her long dark red hair swirled like a glossy curtain around her face. “Wow this place is beautiful!” She gasped. Aragorn grunted. “Spectacular.” Skyocean whispered.
White crystals blocked another doorway out of the cave. “Where does that lead?” Arianna asked Sylveevee. Sylveevee readjusted her crown. “I’ll show you. There’s a narrow crack just big enough for us all to fit through.” She led them toward the blocked crystal doorway. “Oh great a dead end.” Drake grunted. Sylveevee smirked. “Don’t be to sure.” She said sweetly. They walked closer. Sure enough, wedged between the crystals was a narrow crack just big enough for a person to fit through. A white light was shining from beyond it. Carefully they all slipped through the crack. “WOW!!!” Jack exclaimed. A short distance away was a shining white pillar. A white Obelisk.
As they looked at it, the light shining on them a feeling of peace and prosperity settled on them. “It’s so bright.” Moonhigh said, shielding her eyes. “Well, what are we waiting for? Let’s go check it out!” Aragorn said calmly.
