Riddles of The Phoenixes
They thought this story was over. They thought all was at peace. I thought the story was over. I thought all was at peace. But they were wrong, I was wrong. After all…there was more to the story. There was something new. There was…
The lost world.
Chapter one: Causing trouble.
A teenager, about seventeen, ran through the city, dodging carts of food and merchandise that people were selling. Behind him, guards were yelling. He grinned to himself. His name was Cedric. His mother and father, Queen Cyra and King Jack , were the rulers of the Dark Phoenix kingdom. The throne had been passed down to Cyra because the former queen and king had had no children and so Cyra and Jack became king and queen which made Cedric a prince. At the castle the people call him , Prince Cedric, but here in the city…they called him a irresponsible, irrational, mischievous, scoundrel. Why, you ask?
Well, the reason is relatively simple. It’s mostly due to the fact that he…has a sweet spot for causing mischief. Hey, it’s not his fault. He inherited it from his grandfather. And what did Cedric just do? Well, he may have “accidentally” set the statues of the royal family on fire. It started with the statue of him, and then suddenly the others were wrapped in flames as well. They looked rather ugly any way. Cedric jumped over a wagon, being pulled by a merchant. His horse reared back, startled by Cedric .
“Hey!” The merchant called angrily. “Sorry!” Cedric called over his shoulder. “A little bit farther and I can make it to the castle and disappear inside its walls, and pretend to be innocent. Not that anyone would believe me.” He muttered under his breath. Cedric leapt over barrels of gunpowder and raced past a small hospital and a few other buildings. “Get him!” A guard yelled. The wind blew Cedric’s shoulder length hair into his eyes. Cedric grimaced and spit out a piece of his hair, ticking the rest behind his ears. “Come on, come on!” He rounded the corner and was immediately surrounded by guards. Cedric turned. The way he had come from was blocked as well. Cedric sighed heavily. The captain of the guard, who happened to be Captain Paul a friend of his mothers’, frowned at him. “What do you have to say for yourself, young man?” He asked. Cedric shrugged. “It was fun while it lasted.” Cedric said.
Captain Paul frowned. “I don’t know what your parents will do with you.” He said softly. Cedric grinned and pushed his hair out of his face carelessly. “Nobody ever does.” Cedric replied. Captain Paul’s frown deepened. He grabbed Cedric by the ear. “Come with me.” He said. “Ow!” Cedric cried. He tugged the boy along toward the castle. Where Cedric’s father and mother were. Cedric scowled. He had been caught.
Far far away from the Dark phoenix kingdom. A teenage girl sat with her knees clutched to her chest. She was sitting in a windowsill. Her long hair fell to her knees. Tears dripped down her face, and her body shook with sobs. Why did this have to happen to her? Her? Tears soaked her face so that some of her hair stuck to her cheeks. She wiped them away in vain.
Why did she have to go through with this? She didn’t deserve this. “I can’t do this. I don’t want to hurt anyone.” She whispered. She wiped the tears fiercely away. “Just go away. Go away!” She whispered. She hated the tears. It was a sign of weakness her father said. She would not be weak. Could not be! She reached toward her neck and pulled a small rounded silver object and pressed it against her forehead. It was cold but comforting.
She took a breath. “I will do this. I will.” Her eyes closed and a dull red glow danced across her vision. “I will not fail.”
I hope y’all enjoy this book. After all, this is just the beginning of something new…
