The Riddles of The Phoenixes.
Prologue two: A new prophecy.
Emma’s eyes were closed, not that she could see anything if they were open anyway. She had grown older but…so had the rest of the world as well. Nora and William had passed the Dark phoenix throne to Jack and Cyra. Jenny still ruled the shadow phoenixes. Jack and Cyra had had a son, Jay and Sylvia had a pair of twins and another child, and a lot of other things had happened. Emma lived in the Shadow phoenixes kingdom with Sylvia and jay. She was happy, although she still missed Andrew her husband. He had stolen a part of her heart when he died.
Footsteps pattered down the hall. “Aunt Emma!” A tiny voice squeaked. Emma smiled and held out her arms. “Erin.” Emma said. She felt the little girl jump into her lap. Emma wrapped her arms gently around the eight year old girl. “What is it now, darling?” Emma asked. Erin rested her head on Emma’s chest. “I missed you.” Erin said. Emma laughed. “But darling, I’ve been sitting here all morning.” Emma protested. “Yeah…but I missed you. And mommy says your blind, so I want to take care of you!” Erin said. Emma smiled. “Is it true your blind, Aunt Emma? How many fingers am I holding up?” Erin asked. Emma laughed. “I don’t know. Here…” Emma reached out and felt the tiny hand. It was curled up in a small fist. “Erin! You aren’t holding up any fingers!” Emma cried, smiling even wider. Erin giggled and Emma cuddled the little girl against her and rocked back in forth in the rocking chair.
Erin’s breathing became deeper as she slowly fell asleep. Emma grinned and tucked a lock of the little girl’s hair behind her ear.
Suddenly Emma’s medallion began to glow and words dropped like rocks from Emma’s head.
“The Lightning daughter walks alone, her future and past written in stone. The boy of darkness causing trouble until the whole earth turns to rubble. The rain forest creeper awaits unseen until he calls to the woods so that the earth trembles as he lifts his hood. The Fire princess, in plain sight comes out of darkness to produce the light. A shadow dweller braves the unknown to find the way back home.
Five will find a new world where darkness overshadows the good. A land of darkness, a land of chaos must be defeated for them to live in bliss. Beware the deceiver, she lurks there, watching the boy of darkness with her stare. Five will answer the call or storm and fire will cause the world to fall.”
Emma sat up abruptly, almost dropping Erin. Erin awoke quickly. “What is it?” She cried. Emma’s hands were shaking and a lump was stuck in her throat so that she couldn’t speak. She felt tiny hands press against hers. “Aunt Emma?” Erin asked sweetly. “What was it?” Images swam in Emma’s vision. “A prophecy.”
