Chapter 4

Max turned around to see the walls being broken down by something. “Evacuate everyone!” Artois shouted to his guard, they quickly obeyed and blowed on a horn. “What’s happening?” Andrew asked anxiously. “I got here almost the same time you did, so don’t ask me.” Max replied, taking out his rifle. Soon the entire road was packed with people screaming, Max quickly moved to the side and ran to the destruction. “Andrew! Wait up! What are you doing?!” Andrew shouted as he chased after Max. Max didn’t look back nor respond, he just kept running. Finally Max came to a stop. The area was made of broken down rubbles of stones, but there was something strange about this. “Max! Bro wake up.” Andrew said as he grabbed Max by the shoulder. “Do you see that?” Max asked Andrew as he pointed at something.

Andrew looked at where Max was pointing and seemed to see what Max was seeing. It was a large scratch. “Do you think something big like a tiger did that?” Andrew asked as he bend down. Max bend down as well and looked at the scratch on the broken stone. “No, it’s way too small to make this kind of damage.” Max replied, but the real question was, what did cause this? Max turned around to see nobody in the streets, not even Artois. “BOOOM!” A large explosion came next to them, nearly sending the duos to the air. “ANDREW, FALL BACK!” Max shouted as he grabbed Andrew by the shoulder. The smoke and dust made everything impossible to see, but Max was eager to escape. As the dust started to fade away, Max could clearly see that Andrew was injured in the leg. Blood came oozing out of the wound.

“Andrew! Hold on buddy, we’ll get you out of here.” Max said as he went to a nearby hut. He set Andrew down and used his med kit to bandage his wound, it seems impossible for Andrew to make it out alive. As he bandaged Andrew’s wound, shouting came from the destruction site. It was the krauts (also known as the Germans). “Fudge, how the hell did they get here!?” Murmured Max as he moved Andrew behind a cart. Max then took out his rifle, ready to fire at the krauts. It seemed like a dream that Max saw the Germans in this island, it would be triple the times harder now to survive. Soon the krauts came closer, but some of them were riding something. A dinosaur? Was it a triceratops? Max wondered.

The krauts shouted at something and soon some of them started shooting at something. Finally the shooting stopped. Max looked at it, frightened. It was a men in his division, he was lying dead still on the ground. Max tried to focus on the krauts, but it was difficult with the man dead next to him. ‘No sacrifice too great’ one of his Lieutenant used to say, his Lieutenant was shot during D-Day. There were around 20-30 krauts, Max couldn’t shoot them all. He quickly took out his grenade and threw it the opposite side of them. This triggered the krauts, they quickly turned around to investigate. Max quickly grabbed Andrew and pulled him toward the castle.

But it was too late, the krauts already spotted them.
