A life beyond, ch 1

Buck awoke to another day in the underground world. Buck wished he could be on what his mother called the Surface. It sounded so pleasantly, the sun, flowers, and no dank smell of mushrooms and death. Buck had heard a song about the Surface, and he thought it went like this:

Those looking for the Surface beware,

Light and doom will meet you there,

The sun will betray you here,

The flowers will wither and die,

And you yourself will find that you are just like the flowers.

Buck thought this was a dark song, but he didn’t believe it. Especially since he was heading to the forbidden exit right then and there.
