The recovery step into the ruins, scanning the area as they approached the highest point where the alpha lied in the ruins-turned-raptor den. Raptors stared at the recovery team, but did not move. According to the reports the alpha had fashioned makeshift armor and had the largest pack on the island, but their offspring were also the strongest. All they needed to do is get an egg or two and get out. They reached the peak where they found a clutch of eggs, for some reason unprotected by the alpha. The commander took half a dozen eggs and placed them in the extraction crate, careful to not break any. He radioed for the extraction ship as the team heard the soft clanking of metal. The ship hovered and dropped down a rope for the team to climb up. The team began climbing the rope as a flash of scales and metal swooped in and snatched one of them off the rope. The sickening sound of someone having their chest cavity ripped open was heard as the alpha looked up at the ship. The team hurried up the rope as the hover skiff drove away. The alpha chased after the ship and leapt at it and hit it, creating the sound metal on metal impact followed by sounds of metal being crushed. The alpha continued following on the ground as the skiff swerved and began losing altitude. The ship eventually lost power and crashed, leaving the commander alive but wounded. The alpha jumped over the flaming wreckage, the engine hanging from her mouth. “Clever girl”
