It's not exactly like you don't forget to elaborate on yours,
You just said "Darwin's theory of natural selection dictates that only those fit to survive will have offspring and therefore pass on their genes to the next generation of their species, dodos died, therefore, they must have been unfit to survive, therefore, stupid"
It's not like they can just look at humans and pigs and rats coming and say, "ooh. . . I'd better suddenly re-evolve flight and put my eggs in the trees if I want to survive that"
It takes millennia just to make a small change!
Let alone suddenly be able to counteract completely unknown species when you don't even understand the concept of predation!
