ARK: Survival Evolved & Ascended Companion

I had spent three days looking for an anky so that I could get on with metal collection. Finally I found an okay level anky and took her back to my base in the plains. Our base was safe mostly and apart from the occasional carno or raptor we had never had any trouble. Excited about all the metal we could harvest I took our fresh new anky for a test drive. In a moment of worry, after having spent three days tracking her down, I thought but what if something comes and eats it? Dismissing this quickly, safe in the knowledge a carno or raptor would be no challenge, I trundled out to a very nearby metal node. No more than 375 metal had been loaded up when the screen started to shake. Suddenly a pack of carnos, urged on by a yuti, cascaded over the small cliff behind my metal nodes. I turned and ran but the anky was no speedster. I reached the gate of the base and opened the first gate and whistled ATTACK. My tribe mate was sleeping and the only tames around this area of the base were a moschops, an argie and a ceasar. The carnos poked their heads into the gate and I saw the remains of my anky collapse. I had a sinking feeling, this is it, this is how I lose my tames. Suddenly a rock drake soared over me and munched on the yuti, my argue still swirling around the carnos. My tribemate had awoken and as quickly as it had began, it was over. My tames were all close to death and the anky was no more. But the base was safe. We tamed some more anky later but I always check the cliff tops before venturing out now!
