Journey: Chapter 7

Forest was shocked, he didn’t know how this could happen except it had to involve what Rust did to the rune.

“So, how did I get here??” Forest asked for a possible second opinion. All he got was a shrug from the troodon.

“Well, thanks! Your a real help aren’t you?? You knock me out, rummage through my bag and give me a heart attack about where I am. And all you have for me is a shrug?!” Forest said in irritation, he thought at least the troodon would have a response for how.

“Look, I know a lot about the Arks. But any travel I know only pertains to humans or tamed traveling. Whatever you did, is something the Order of the Arks never learned or passed down.” The theropod said calmly, Forest heard and got really confused again.

“Order of the Arks? What is that? Also I didn’t catch your name?” Forest said asking genuinely, “My name is Nightfall. And for your main question, the Order of the Arks is, well what it sounds like. An order, or as humans would say an secret society made up of a specific species that are the second smartest creature and this order allows this species’ to communicate across all the Arks…” Nightfall said hesitantly. Almost as if he thought he said too much.

“Okay so why are you telling me about this secret order you are and all troodons are apart of, and I thought Gigantopithecus was the next smartest creature after humans? And what are the Arks? You know what, I don’t want to know my last question’s answer. Just answer the the first two.” Forest said, holding his head as a headache began forming.

“Well, as of last week, I am no longer a true member of the Order of the Arks, they had been trying to find a way to out me because of my size. I mean I am an subadult, but I’m like half the size of what I should be. But they could never find a good reason for me to be exiled. So I beat them to it and resigned from the order.” Nightfall said

“And what about the Gigantopithecus being smarter?” Forest said wondering if the troodon was telling the truth.

“Gigantopithecus are stupid things, the only reason why creatures think they are smarter than everyone is because they’re closer relative to humans!!! It’s a lie, troodons have been studying and spying on Gigantopithecus for decades and they aren’t even close!!!” Said Nightfall in furious monologue.

“Sorry, anytime I talk to any creature they ask why do you think Troodons are smarter than Gigantopithecus’s and I could never say anything.” Nightfall said apologetically. “It’s alright.” Forest said. ‘Well there goes making it on time to the celebration.’ Forest thought to himself.
