Chapter 5
- The Nazgûl
The medical tents had been running all night. There were many wounded.
“So, what’s your story?” The medic asked. She seemed very old, but had a gentle hand and was very kind. Currently, she was treating Jennifer’s wounds.
“My what?” Jennifer asked back.
“Your story. How you came to be in the war, what it was like for you before the war.”
“Well, we lived here for a while, then my little sister Alex was born. We lived happily for many years. Then the war came. We were sent to fight in the desert. Our mom and dad went to fight in the swamp.”
“How young is your sister?” The doctor asked.
“Nine.”
“The poor girl. How can they make someone that young fight in the army? Well, I hope she stays healthy. Your all patched up.”
“That was fast.”
“Ha! That’s because I know all the tricks to medical business. I’ve got it all drilled into my brain. And you’ll find that my bandages will work faster.”
“Well why don’t you tell the other doctors?”
“They never ask. They never listen when I try to tell them. They think I am just a crazy old woman. But, because I am old, I will need someone to teach. I won’t be around forever. Are you interested?”
“I would be happy to learn.”
“Good. I can teach you at night. I would recommend you take sword training though. We need someone who can go out into the battle field and help people, but still be able to defend themselves. It’s normally the walk back to camp that causes a soldier to die. They don’t get treatment soon enough.”
“Well then, I guess I will see you tomorrow night.” Jennifer said. She left to go to her tent. Tomorrow was the first day of training. Everyone needed as much sleep as possible to be ready.
Chapter 4
- The Nazgûl
The armies fought for hours. Neither side was experienced. Grant’s men were simply villagers that he captured. The other side, was made up of a ragtag band of soldiers who had never witnessed a battle once. Only a few men died. Nearly all were injured in some way. Neither side had one. Both had lost. As Grant’s men returned, his general stationed there ridiculed them.
“You call yourselves soldiers! We should have won that fight. You must be trained to fight like true warriors. We start tomorrow. Anyone who is late will be tortured.”
Back at the council’s camp(the rebellion is what I will call them), a war council was formed. Spark was put on.
“What will we do?” One member asked.
“We must train our men.” Another answered.
“But who will do it?” The first asked.
As they looked around the room, Spark volunteered.
“I will train them.” He said.
“Alright then. We need them ready as soon as possible.” Everyone agreed.
Spark took the men into a place near the jungle. It was safer there than in the desert.
“Over the next weeks, you will be trained in the art of war. We will start in the morning. Anyone who is late, will miss their meals and have the chores of cleaning up. If the plan goes as hoped, you will be ready to fight in a week.”
Chapter 15
- The Nazgûl
The men were wearying. They held out hope that Spark would soon charge in and help defeat the enemy. They fought and fought. Nothing. They began to wonder if he just left or if he was killed. Suddenly, all the attention from the other side turned away. Spark had snuck around and attacked from the back. The soldiers rushed in to attack. The fight was over swiftly after that. The swamp had been taken. Everyone regrouped and rested. Except for Spark and the other commanders.
“Spark, when can we expect reinforcements to arrive? We need them desperately.” Said Chad, the leader of all the troops.
“I don’t know. I would expect a day or two.”
“That’s if they took it. What if they didn’t win in the highlands? Then all the hard work we have done is for nothing.” Brian said.
“Trust me,” Spark said, “they took the highlands. I don’t know how many reinforcements we will have. But I can say with certainty that they will come. But we will most likely have to take the canyon without them.”
“But how will we get to the top of the canyon? That’s where all the troops are. I never saw a path up there. We don’t have any fliers.” Chad said.
Spark pulled out a grappling hook. “We’re gonna do it the old fashioned way.”
Sorry for any confusion. Chapter six with note on top about being held up is chapter 7.
Chapter 8
- The Nazgûl
They had been marching all day. They had finally reached the edge of the dunes. Everyone was tired and thirsty. On the other side of the dunes stood the other army, ready to protect the mountain ridge and their territory that went beyond. After Spark’s men got a drink from the stream, they continued to march. Ten minutes later, the armies stood facing each other. Clearly, both sides had been preparing. However, while Spark had trained everyone in their skill and battle, Grant’s generals had just made reenforced armor and sharper weapons for their men. The swordsman unsheathed their swords. The archers notched arrows. For one dreadful moment there was complete silence. Then, there was a rumbling. Everyone first looked to the mountain, expecting an avalanche. Not a single rock had moved. They turned their heads toward the ruined city. What appeared to be causing the rumbling was a sandstorm, but it was a very small one. Then a horror of realization came in Spark’s mind.
“Death worm! Don’t move and it won’t feel our vibrations through the sand!” Spark shouted as loud as he could.
However, the other army didn’t not hear, and anyone who did hear wasn’t going to take orders from the enemy. They formed up for battle facing the approaching dust cloud. When the cloud got to them, it suddenly disappeared and the rumbling stopped. Everyone was quite confused. Then the death worm shot out of the ground in the middle of Grant’s forces. Nearly two thirds of the men that went to the desert were killed by the death worm while the other soldiers attempted to climb the mountain in order to make it to the redwoods base. Now all Spark had to do was get everyone across the remaining dunes, past the death worm without it attacking, climb the mountain, and then they could figure out what to do next. Actually, the death worm had been quite easy to deal with. In fact, they didn’t have to deal with it at all. Having killed all the soldiers, it had burrowed deep underground to feed on them all. It did not care if there was more food. The army began to climb the mountain. A couple soldiers slipped, but someone caught them before anything bad happened. When they all were on top of the ridge, they looked below them. There it was. Deep in the redwoods, they could see the scouting tower of the main base. The next battle would soon begin.
Chapter 10
- The Nazgûl
Arrows flew randomly from the base. With all the watchtowers taken care of, the base was in complete mayhem without a warning of the attack. Several tried to retreat and get word to the highlands, but they found Spark and Alex waiting for them. The battle was quickly over.
“Today, marks a great victory. The highlands is all that stands between us and the enemy on the eastern side of the island. When we take the highlands, a group of new troops with catapults will arrive on rafts. I will take men back to the swamp in the west to help with the battle there. Once we have the enemy cut off on all sides, we will attack. I have been called to the swamps early. Bret will take charge of the attack on the highlands. I hope to see all of you again when the war is won.” Spark stepped down from the platform. Everyone began to rest for the attack on the highlands.
“You want me to do it?” Bret asked.
“Yes. You are a skilled fighter. I left a list of soldiers that should be brought to the swamps when the highlands are taken.” Spark said.
“Well, good luck in the swamps. I hope to see you again.” Bret saluted.
Spark saluted back. Then he walked of into the woods to begin his long journey west.
Chapter 9
- The Nazgûl
Spark and his second in command, Bret, had been trying to figure out how to take the redwoods all night.
“There is no doubt that every one of those trees has a platform filled with soldiers on it.” Spark said.
“We need a way to sneak past the platforms. But how do we get all our soldiers past them?” Bret asked.
Spark thought for a minute.
“We don’t have to get all of them through. Only thirty.”
Bret had a puzzled look on his face.
“I will take thirty men through the woods. You stay back with everyone else. At dawn, we charge. They won’t expect an attack from behind and we can stop reinforcements from coming from the highlands that way. I will go get the soldiers. You prep everyone for battle. Do not rush in until dawn.” Spark went of to go get his soldiers.
————————————————————————————————
It was pitch black in the woods. Except for the occasional torch seen at the watch towers. They came about one hundred feet from the watchtower. Spark motioned to Alex. The arrow found its mark. No one would know that the watchmen were killed until it was two late. They continued on. They walked by the main base, careful to stay hidden in the bushes. Finally, after what seemed like forever, the small band of soldiers had snuck past. When they reached the edge of the redwoods, the looked towards the highlands. The were not too many troops, but if they made it to the highlands, it would all be over. They ate a small meal. Lighting campfires on the ridge would be easily visible from the highlands.
“What do you think we will do when this is all over?” Alex asked Spark.
“I don’t know. I always thought I would always be fighting. It’s all I’ve ever done. What about you?” He asked.
“Jennifer always said that we would live like we used to. No fighting. Just living a peaceful life on the shore.” She answered.
“That doesn’t sound that bad.” Spark said.
“It all seems just too boring for me. But if you want to I am sure our parents wouldn’t mind having another mouth to feed. But then again, I guess we don’t know if we will even win the war.” Alex said.
“We will. And you will see you parents again. I promise. The sun’s coming up. We better go.” Spark said.
As they charged through the forest, they heard shouting from the redwoods base. The fighting had started. The battle for the redwoods had begun.
Chapter 6
- The Nazgûl
Jennifer slowly crept into her bedroom.
“Is that you?” She heard a voice. She knew it was Alex.
“Well I guess there isn’t any point in being quiet. I thought you were asleep.” Jennifer said.
“I’m not tired.” Alex said back.
“You have to be well rested for training tomorrow.”
“Who put you in charge?”
“Mom and Dad. They told I had to watch over you.”
“Where are they?”
“They had to go fight in the swamp. Don’t worry. You’ll see them again.”
“Are you sure?”
“I promise.”
They both laid there for a while. All they could hear was the wind.
“I’m gonna be the best swordsman ever.” Jennifer heard Alex say.
“Oh really?”
“And the best archer.” Alex said.
“Well, I guess we all have our goals.”
“What are you gonna be Jennifer?”
“I am going to start training as a medic. But that means you’ll be on your own at night because I will be training. Are you good with that?”
“Yup” Alex said.
They both fell asleep soon. Tomorrow was going to be a big day.
My Sword is My Life
Chapter 4
By:DoomPhoenix
Previous chapter in Moschops, Questions and comments are in red dye, next chapter will be in pteranadon. Oh yeah, gruesome fight scene ahead.
A few hours before...
"The Monarch controlled four generals who controlled about ten officers, each officer controlled around a hundred soldiers. That's why we will need more than just the two of us. The four generals, from strongest to weakest, are The Red Demon, The Blue Demon, The Green Demon, and The Yellow Demon. They are distinguished by their unique eye color." Zak said. "Controlled?" Sindan asked. "There are rumors that the four demons have mutinied, leaving the forty officers right under The Monarch." "How do you know so much, Zak?" Sindan asked. "I have spies." Zak said while thinking, 'I hate to lie to you but I have to."
Present day...
Sindan screamed in pain and jumped off the soldier, blood running down her leg. Zak dodged another shot and decapitated the soldier, ducking under one of the attacking swordsmen and stabbing her in the chest. Sindan drew a small knife and threw it at the soldier who stabbed her, killing him. Retrieving the knife, she flew at the other gunman, and stabbed through his eye and into his brain. Zak dodged a sword swing, cut off their right arm and received a knife to his shoulder, who's wielder Sindan killed. Suddenly, another gunshot echoed, blood spurted and Sindan fell to the ground, a bullet in her head.
Zak only knew her for about a day, but he was angry, his only company was dead, losing controll, he became a demon, tearing through the soldiers, he killed them all. Then, after running a mile in three minutes, he passed out on the forest floor.
So I mess with commands alot so I had a ice titan but one day my friend unclaimed it on accident while trying to change the name, AND THEN he was JSUT destroying everything we worked for instead of commands, I even summoned a 19000 Griffin but that still didn't work, I had to summon a whole d*mn army of poison wyverns to destroy it. That was insane
