Taming & KO Tips
How do I tame a dimetrodon? Tips and strategies on taming and knocking out a dimetrodon.
These can now be carried with an argentavis.
1 do not have any tames when taming including: sarco, or any thing else other than dimetodon.
2 prime raw not normal raw. Raw is a waste of time but still good taming material.
kibble was worth .9% of taming progress on a lvl 60 dimetrodon on an official prim+ xbox server, let people know before they waste their time!!
The torpor drops at SONIC speed!
Didn’t have to tame with kibble, was lvl 2 and I’m on Xbox so idk but just spam it full of narcs and you’re grand
Hey people have you ever thought it was a waist of materials makeing torches or air vent things to hatch an egg well you don’t need to anymore because if you put some of these next to an egg it will start incubating so no more useing up you materials just tame a few of these and they will get the job done. I hope this helps you not use materials on torches and air vent things and see you in the next tip ;) - A.L.N.A
If you want to tame high level AC, Mutton or Kibble are pretty much needed, following tons of Bio Toxin, it worth the AC purchase cost if you find one with high melee start anyway...
As mentioned below, in Mobile you cannot pick up the Dimetrodon with an Argi. You’ll need a Quetzel, or maayyybbbbbeee a Tapajara, idk yet I am still working on it.
Do not pause between shots instead shoot the required amount of arrows/darts and wait for it to drop. Make sure you have plenty of narcotics as the torpor on these creatures will drop in the blink of an eye. Can be tamed solo but only with kibble due to the torpor time and can also be carried by a Quetzal if you prefer a taming pen.
Im so sorry guys my Dime tip took to long cuz there was a power off sorry :'(
Looking to tame this Live AC? Ok! Lets start on what you"ll need!
SUPPLIES FOR TAME AND YOURSELF:
-Journeyman or Appreantice Longneck rifle if low lvl or choose Ascendant Longneck if high lvl.
-Lots of Bio or Narcotics. (6 or 5 Stacks of bio and 7 stacks of narc if not using balm.)
-x3 or x6 Quetz Kibble.
-Soothing Balm (If you want.)
-Journeyman, and Apprentice Shotgun or Pump Shotgun to kill any Titanoboa, Kapro, Sarco, and Baryonyx that could interfear while taming your Smaller Spino.
-Taming Trap.
Now lets start!
-Step 1: Find a Dimetrodon. (Finding a Dimetrodon is very easy theyre found in the swamps but theyre common in the Green Obelisk Redwood Swamps.)
-Step 2: Bring Dimetrodon to the trap. (Quetzals can only carry the Dimetrodon.)
-Step 3: KO your Dimetrodon (When you brought it in trap get you Quetz Kibble and Balm if you"ll like a balm and KO it and put the stuff and Torpor requirements and also Dimetrodons torpor drains fast, like fr its sooo fast.)
-Step 4: Put stuff in Dimetrodon (Put: Your Bio/Narcs, Quetz Kibble, Balm if you want.)
-Step 5: Just wait and keep feeding it Bio or Narcs "till it tames! =)
Tysm for seeing my Taming Guide! Now lets go to the Abilities and Dissabilities of this creature! =)
ABILITIES
ABILITY 1- Dimetrodons are live AC"s! They can be used for hatching eggs or keeping you from freezing to death at the Snowy Tundra of the Island, just add melee on its lvls bc it wil make the Dimetrodon way cooler and better than normal AC"s.
DISABILITIES
DISSABILITY 1- ARK Devs should really make Argentavis carry the Dimetrodon like really, you can only carry them with a Quetz when Tamed and Wild too, which is sad =(.
Tysm for seeing my Guide on Dimetrodon! Hope ya"ll have a great summer! And as always PEACE OUT! 😁😄😄😃

Dont get stressed over its short wake up time, figure out how many narcotics it will take to fill its torpor from as close to 0 as possible, its about 1 stack for every 4000 torpor points. Place this in the inventory and allow your dimetridon to get as close to waking up as possible and then feed him all the narcotics at once. It will take just over 10 minutes for a stack of narcotics to take affect. This will give you time to look away and do other things.
Keep in mind, lower torpor (lower level dimetridons) may have less than 4000 torpor, in which case they will wake up sooner because they cant use a full stack of narcotics. Higher level dimetridons have closer to 8000 torpor, in which case you can feed them 2 stacks and they will take over 20 minutes to consume the narcotics.
On primitive + : use a few narco traps in a corridor and then arrows. Their torpor drops fast and their health is low. One of the hardest tame on P+. Be ready to kill a few.
Dodo said 600 narcotics and 1.5 hours to tame. Took 1hour 45min and 1150 narcotics. Thanks dodo, glad I always carry extra for just in case.
God forbid if you try to tame a high level without having ridicously boosted tame speed and loads narcotics
Can’t pick them up with an Arge in Mobile :(
Knock it out, load it up on narcotics, and while taming it use fence foundation plus walls to build it a little shelter very, very fast. Then run back to your base and request it! It’s too hard to keep alive otherwise.
These guys have Low health, Be careful if you’re taming it with arrows. You can kill it very easily, when shooting with arrows wait about 10 seconds and then shoot another one. I used tranq darts with a Mastercraft Longneck. Also, Their torpor drops SO QUICK, LIKE A FREAKING GIGANOTOSAURUS! BRING A BUNCH OF BIOTOXIN OR NARCOTICS WITH YOU, NARCOBERRIES WONT CUT IT!
Is hard to tame cause fast torpor drain, but if you play on mobile just watch 10 ads and get urself cooking station #easy kibble
Prim+ players!!! I struggled with these until I saw someone else here mention to use a HARPOON GUN and tranq bolts... literally a life saver. I've killed so many before trying bolts. 150 went down still with half his health. Pop yurts down face to face with you and dimet inside then do a little dance around while shooting it in the back (back fin works. Big target) boom. Down. Great idea I love it. Expensive but worth it.
Easiest way to tame a Dime 😌
Requires:
Crossbow, shotgun, OR Bow- Tranq darts (for shotgun) or tranq arrows (for crossbow or bow)- a lot of narco berries and/or narcotics- Tame that can carry it, like an argy (argy can’t carry on ark mobile)-
After you get the needed resources for taming, find a dime, they usually spawn in ponds, lakes, and rivers.
Once you have found one, take the dime somewhere with no water or dangerous creatures, and set it down (make sure your tame is on passive).
Knock it out. WARNING when using bow or crossbow make sure to wait 7-10 second between each shot or you will kill it. When blood starts to appear, wait 10-12 seconds between shots.
Once it is knocked out, quickly shove food and narcs in its inventory, it’s torpor goes down FAST. I recommend bringing a strong tame and using it to get prime meat if you don’t have any.
And BOOM! You have a dime! You can use a dime to help incubate eggs, level up it’s damage to increase the incubation effect. And tame multiple for large eggs! It’s much cheaper then getting 20 acs for a rock drake egg!
