Chapter 2
“Fight! Fight! Fight!”
Two juveniles fought violently in the clearing, surrounded by a cluster of Raptors, each eagerly stepping in front of the other to get a better view of the skirmish. One of the fighting Raptors, a gray and brown male with scuffed-up feathers, slashed ferociously at the other's face.
“Get him!” A Raptor was yelling as he attacked again. “Hit him, Sand! Get him in the face! Hit him in the— OOH!”
Sand collapsed on top of Hollow, a tan and yellow raptor with white specks. He dug his claws in and lowered his head to Hollow, making them almost nose to nose. “Had enough?” He asked.
Hollow huffed, writhing a bit. “Not even close,” he panted.
“Face it, Hollow,” Sand said. “You’re a terrible fighter. I could keep you pinned here all day.”
“Nah,” Hollow said in a strained voice. “I’m just recharging. Getting… ready for the… shove,” He struggled to lift Sand off of him for a moment, then gave up. “Oof, never mind. I think I’ll just lay here for a while. Maybe take a quick nap.”
“Weak,” Sand spat at him.
“Not weak.” Hollow argued. “I am purposely letting you sit here on top of me.” He laid his head on the ground, feeling the blood running down from the slash on his face. “It’s actually quite comfortable.”
Sand lifted his talon with a hiss, preparing a blow to Hollow’s muzzle. But several gasps came from somewhere around the crowd, and a Raptor emerged from the crowd to stand in front of the two opponents. Hollow sighed with relief as Sand looked up, befuddled.
“What is happening?” The Raptor asked, sounding exasperated and tired.
“Dusk,” Sand gasped, setting his talon down. “I didn’t—"
“One hour,” said their Alpha. “We were gone for one hour.”
Hollow struggled to inch his head around to see Dusk as he stepped forward, his dark feathers and scales the dappled colors of blackberries and dried grapes.
“I am so sorry,” Sand said quietly. “Hollow was just saying some mighty stupid things again.”
“I don’t care what he said.” Dusk hissed. “Let him go.”
The pain in Hollows’ chest relaxed as Sand lifted himself up and away. “Ah, that’s much better,” Hollow sighed, flopping onto his side. “Thank you very much, Dusk.”
“This can’t keep happening, Hollow.” said Dusk, turning his head to him. “These fights are getting out of talon. It needs to stop.”
Hollow paused to wipe the blood away from his mouth and examine his talon, adjusting his jaws slightly. “Of course,” He said.
“You said that last time. I want you to mean it.”
Hollow pulled himself into a lazy side-sit position and shrugged, a small sliver of pain running through one of his shoulders. “It's not my fault everyone keeps finding me so fightable.”
Dusk sighed, closing his eyes. “Do what you want. Just don’t be an idiot. And don’t let this happen again, or you’re gonna have to deal with me. Ok?”
“Yes Alpha,” Hollow said softly.
As Dusk dipped his head and turned away, Hollow looked to Sand, who was standing next to him. Sand growled lightly. “So we’re done, then?” Hollow asked him.
“Yes,” Sand snapped. He went to walk away.
“Ok,” Hollow said with another shrug. He turned around. “I would have won anyway,” he whispered.
As expected, the other Raptor snarled and swung around, swiping his talon in a massive arc towards Hollow. But Hollow was quicker, grabbing onto Sands arm with a grin.
But what he didn’t expect was the set of dark colored claws coming from behind him. With a woosh and thump, a talon slammed into the back of Hollow's head, and he was out cold.

Chapter Two: Rescued?
Everything seemed to be in slow motion as his car flew through the air. The car hood burst into flames as his car landed upside down in the sand. Connor hung upside down inside the car, his face scratched and bleeding from the broken glass. He reached towards the seatbelt, and unbuckled himself. He fell to the sandy ground. He groaned as he hit the ground. The sand crunched outside the crashed car. Connor spotted two pairs of white boots. Four white gloves hands reached down and grabbed Connor’s hands. The people pulled him out of the car. Connor looked at the people. Both had white skin-tight suits that looked similar to astronaut suits, but without the helmets and heavy equipment. One person appeared to be male and the other seemed to be female. The female looked at Connor and whimpered. The male however glared at Connor. “We have to get him to home-base!” The female exclaimed. The male just nodded and dragged Connor to a sort of hover-bike. Connor drifted off as the Bike took off.

“And… Go!”
Dice clattered to the floor as Dovi tossed them, his sister Daring sitting behind him and clutching his shoulders, watching the little circles on each cube flip with a confident expression.
The dice landed on two fours and a five, and Jujubee roared in triumph. “YES! WINNER! FINALLY!” She leapt into the air, flapping her tiny blue wings.
Their mother was smiling above them, watching as Dovi hissed and leapt at Jujubee, Daring following just behind him, determined to not miss any sibling squabbles. The three plopped on top of each other and wrestled happily, making little squeaking noises as they squashed each other’s tails and wings.
Jujubee was pulling at Dovi’s tail when their mother inhaled shakily, her expression shifting. Jujubee’s head popped up. “Mother? What's wrong?”
Mother hung her head low for a moment, and the three hatchlings saw tears run down her snout. Then she lifted it and said, “nothing’s wrong. Don’t worry about me.”
But Jujubee was stepping forward. “Were you thinking about the old kingdom again?”
Mother paused. “Yes. I miss it very much.”
“And auntie, too?”
She blinked, looking away with a cloudy expression in her eyes. Exhaling slowly, she closed them. “I’m going to tell you a story, ok?”
My Life as an Ark noob: chapter 1
I awoke on an island not far from the beach. I went over to a tree and had a sudden urge to punch it. I started bleeding as I ripped the thatch off the tree. I grabbed some stones of of the nearby beach and tied them together with some fiber. I started to hack at the tree one again. Then I heard a rustling in the bushes…

Chapter 35: Starving
Part 2/2
The pounding footsteps grew louder and louder, the ground shaking with such intensity Alan almost bounced up and down. Sweat poured down Alan’s face and his implant began to shine.
“I’m nervous, Bob,” Alan said.
“It’s okay to be nervous,” Bob replied, the calluses on his hands rubbing against the trigger of the crossbow, “Just don’t back down, okay?”
“Stand proud, Alan.”
And then it came. In all its primal savageness, a Tyrannosaurus emerged from the treelines, its giant skull and bone-crushing teeth laying bloodthirsty and battle-ready within its fine jaws. Its disproportionate arms flailed softly, and it clenched a fist of rage. Its eyes squinted at the two with malice, and then with hunger.
Its two powerful legs carried it onto the black sands, where it studied the two carefully. It was huge, Alan barely reached its ankle, and to the Tyrannosaurus, the humans were nothing more than snacks to fill its ever growing appetite.
Bob found it a little humorous that this was nothing close to the most powerful dinosaur on the ARK.
“Don’t. Move. A muscle,” Alan whispered.
Bob instantly began to reach for the pillar strapped to his back, and the Tyrannosaurus began to move forward. Alan let out a scream and began to run away.
“AHHH!!!” Alan screamed, taking him as far as his legs could.
“ALAN!” Bob screamed back, slamming the pillar into the sand, “What did I say?”
The Tyrannosaurus made its way to Bob, letting out a roar of dominance as it did. Bob felt his stomach boil, but luckily nothing came out. He shot an arrow at the Rex and began to run away.
The Rex stopped its roaring, its beady eyes locked onto Bob. It reached one of its powerful legs forward, stepped onto the pillar…
And slipped.
The Tyrannosaurus collapsed to the ground, and then it struggled to get up. It tried propelling itself back up with one of its legs, but it was too big and heavy. It began to slam its tail into the sand and let out cries of anger.
Alan turned around skeptically, his eyes wide in surprise and Bob began to shoot at it with his crossbow.
“Woah, it’s down! It’s knocked down!” Alan shouted.
“Less talking, more shooting!” Bob yelled in anger.
“S-Sorry Bob!” Alan replied. He aimed his crossbow at Rex's skull and shot, an arrow flying loose and hitting it right in the cheek.
The duo quickly shot a dozen more arrows at the Rex, and with a final roar, it stopped its senseless roaring and fell asleep. Alan let out a cheer, and a “woo hoo!” for his celebratory first tame. He dropped his crossbow into the sand and began to pump his fists into the air.
“We did it Bob, we did it!” Alan cheered with glee.
“We sure did, Alan,” Bob replied with a grin. He slowly walked up to the Tyrannosaurus, which was breathing steadily, almost if it had a rhythm to it. He took out a few slabs of meat from his pouch and set them in front of the Rex to feed. Soon, a Tyrannosaurus would be theirs to lead.
But then a growl struck the air.
Bob jolted around in an instant to see Alan keeled over the floor, clutching his stomach and clenching his eyes as if he were going through intense labor. Alan let out a seethe of pain and fell to his knees, putting his head on the sand and letting out a groan.
“Alan?! Are you okay?” Bob asked, rushing to his side. Alan looked up, opening his eyes to reveal a bloodshot mess. His breath was raspy and the growling continued some more. It was coming from his stomach.
“I’m absolutely STARVING!” Alan cried, a sadistic grin growing on his face. His implant began to glow intensely, and Bob dug his hands into his pockets, pulling out tons and tons of berries.
“Come on, eat this you’ll be filled up in no time,” Bob ordered him gently. Alan grabbed fistfuls of the berries and began pouring them in his mouth, chewing loudly and letting berry juice pour out from his lips.
Soon, the bloodshot in his eyes began to disappear, and he wiped the juice off his mouth. He blinked his eyes gently, and his stomach stopped growling.
“T-Thank you. Thank you so much,” Alan whispered.
“You’re going to have to tell me more about what just happened later,” Bob decided. He looked up at the sky to see a Pteranodon flying overhead. It slowed down for a second, then two, then three, before flying off again.

Chapter 35: Starving
Part 1/2
BAM! BAM! BAM!
Bob slammed a hammer onto a piece of metal lay on top of an anvil, which lay on his makeshift smithy. He was making crossbows for Alan and him. Alan was looking around his house with a timidness that couldn’t be described, bouncing up and down at the sight of all the contraptions and things inside of his small little house.
“It’s very machine-y in here,” Alan noted, looking at the mortar and pestle on the ground.
“Yeah, it is, you’ll get used to it in no time,” Bob replied.
“How’d you even know how to make any of this stuff?” Alan asked, picking up a torch hanging on the wall, “I thought you were just the tennis coach?”
“I was,” Bob explained, “Here on this island there are large beacons which allow you to… earn some rewards.”
“Like loot crates?”
“Yeah, loot crates.”
“That’s pretty cool. But I’ve never seen one before. Not even on the way here…” Alan replied.
“Maybe you’re not looking in the right spots,” Bob said as he wiped some sweat from his forehead, “The farther up north you go, the more beacons you find-”
“How do you know that?” Alan asked with a raised brow. Bob looked back at Alan and stared at the features of his face intensely. He looked so much like Agent Apex. The resemblance was almost uncanny.
But Alan had a much different structure compared to Agent Apex. They could not have been the same.
A few minutes of molding and pounding later, and Bob had managed to create two compact crossbows along with a stack of arrows dipped with a knock out poison. He also had a stone pillar slung around his shoulder for some reason.
“What’s the pillar for?” Alan asked.
“You’ll see soon enough,” Bob replied. He gave a crossbow to Alan along with a stash of tranquiliser arrows, which he placed in his pocket.
“Come on, let’s go find a T-Rex.”
Bob and Alan exited the home, and Bob began to walk along the river’s black sands. Alan looked to the right and looked on in awe at the redwood forests. The trees looked so huge. Something about the place was mystifying to Alan.
“Looks pretty cool up close, huh?” Bob asked.
“Yeah, yeah it does,” Alan said, “I wanna go in there sometime soon. I bet there’s so many cool things in there we can tame!”
Bob chuckled a little at Alan’s naivety.
“Oh trust me there’s a lot of dangerous critters in that forest. We’re not going in there anytime soon. Not until we’re prepared.”
Alan kept on looking at the forest. He could see big bears walking along the river. There were small sauropods with long necks that slanted horizontally. There was even a beehive hung on one of the trees.
He tore his eyes away from the forest and to Bob, who was loading an arrow into his crossbow.
“How do you even tame things? Like, what does that mean?” Alan asked, “I didn’t know you could even do that. I thought they were just there to eat you! Not even she- not even SHE knows you can do that.”
Bob raised his thick, bushy eyebrow.
“Who’s SHE?”
“Well, you know, that mean lady that ordered me to come all the way up here? THAT’S the one,” Alan said with a shudder, “Queen June… Brrr, her power gives me chills just thinking about it.”
“Her power? What is it?”
“Fire,” Alan replied with a darkness in his eyes, “Her power is fire. She can summon fire within the palm of her hand and make her enemies burn. In. Hell.”
“FIRE?!” Bob thought sweatily, “That’s- interesting.”
“Scary,” Bob replied.
This wasn’t good.
Suddenly, the ground began to shake, step by step. Thunderous footsteps echoed from the forest beyond the black sands, and Alan paused in his tracks, looking with shrunken pupils.
“What was that?!” Alan asked with fear in his voice.
“It might be what we’re looking for,” Bob said with a sly smile. He held his crossbow up boisterously, “Weapons up.”

Chapter 3 ~rewrite~ (I posted chapter 2 two days ago but I don’t see it so I may have to repost 😕) (😂 oh year ago me.. didn’t know how dododex works🤣)
Caesar gathered his things; his bow and arrows and his quiver and a pouch with supplies. while Ron, ate more berries, “if we’re leaving, better not let these go to waste!” he said. caesar took one last look at his home.. scoffed, and said “I coulda done better anyway.” under his breath Ron went to walk out of the house forgetting that they were in a tree and fell to the ground, on his face, Caesar rolling his eyes, climbed down and asked, “you ok?” “ I’m alright captain..” “ok then let’s go.” Ron got up and started walking with caesar. “any ideas on who we are looking for?” Asked Ron. “well we did say crazy people so look for abnormalities.” he answered “abnor-maladies?” Ron said “it means not normal, did you only learn war tactics or what?” he said “yes indeed captain.” Ron said “you don’t need to call me captain you know.” caesar said. Ron just stared at him for a second then kept walking.
“The two creatures walked through the forest, an odd pair on an epic quest.” “what was that?” “Said the mesopithicus.” “I hear it too.” “said the dodo puzzled.” “who’s there show yourself!” “said the meso angrily.” “the meso then looked around at trees aimlessly, then he looked at one tree, and pulled out his bow, an-and-OK OK DONT SHOOT!” said the voice. “Who’s there and why are you narrating us!?” “I’m sorry.” said the voice “I just like to narrate random people, is that a crime?” “No but it’s creepy..” Ron said. “Seriously who does something like that!” caesar said. “uhh…. me?” The voice said puzzled. “Captain he’s crazy.. maybe we should ask for his help?” Ron whispered “no not this guy he’s too crazy.” answered Caesar. “Captain, cmon if we turn everyone down we won’t have any help, we are fighting a dragon after all.” Ron said. “did you say your attempting to slay a dragon?” Asked the voice “yes-er-I mean.. no.” Said Ron. Caesar sighed, “yes we are, what’s it to you?” He said “oooh now that could be a thrilling tale!” “probably a sad one..” he whispered “but a tale none the less!” He said “I’ll come with you, and I think I know someone else who could join us.” said the voice. “ok fine, you can come, but show yourself first.” he said, his bow still aimed at the voice, the voice climbed down the tree into the light, “hello adventureres! I’m Nash.” He said, the voice turned out to be a sinomacrops, he had a tan body with white underbelly, his wings had navy and cyan with purple dots and his eyes were green. “Hello adventurers.” nash said
Wrighters note: just realized I never explained Ron’s colors he has a light brown body with white wing tips and tail, a tan head and a dark red beak 🦤basically the dodo emoji 😂
(yes I changed Ron and Nashes colors in the rewrite, idk why I said they were grey, I’ve never imagined them looking like that..)
