Taming & KO Tips
How do I tame a yutyrannus? Tips and strategies on taming and knocking out a yutyrannus.
My Favorite large Carnivore kill Carnos, trap it, tranq it and feed it mutton or prime and have fun!
Best things to tame, so useful for boss battles and just general play but sometimes uncommon and very hard to tame because of the carnos that hang around it
I feel like this is a given but do NOT use an argy to try to lead it into a trap it will just get freaked out and youll lose control of your bird.
Rather build the trap large enough to hold both a rex and the yuty (make sure the rex has impeccable health just in case) and then lead the yuty in the trap and stand on the ramp just close enough to cryo your rex. Also make sure your rex is on passive or your yuty will probably die.
Bola friend and tranq it while it eats your friend up if you think more people should see this
If you're trapped a Yuty recommended for you to just leave it for a few mins then knock it out. This way will be an instant taming that's because when you leave it until it's hungry as its moving too much in the trap as it tries to escape
Or tries to eat you.....? (just meme)
Quite a difficult as it is fast so when running is hard to shoot at with crossbow and tranqs however with a trap or a good hill point and a fast tame of your own its is only about a 10 minute mission. Also i like to tame carnos as they can be annoying to kill and easy to tame and even in the wild they are a good combo
When I was taming mine, it fell into a gorge. After that I just shot it from the top of the gorge, when it ran I got on my bird and flew to the bottom of the gorge and shot it. It later fell to the ground where I fed it meat and tamed him. I named him Copper, and he’s very useful, and I recommend him for boss fights
These thing aren’t particularly hard to tame, but there not super easy either; if you ride a small, fast mount it’ll fear roar it and kill it. For a trap you should build a 2by2 stone build with Ramps, but you could build a 3x3 to be safe. Their fast but not to fast, so I recommend trying to get as close as possible to your trap when trying to get to aggro on you into the trap, so you can get in the trap before it hits you to much, then just traq it till it knocks out and give it some prime. You can get prime in the arctic by killing mammoth or carnos.
Quick tip for taming without using a trap. You can use buff up t-Rex to tank yuty while other friends of yours shoot tranquilizer towards yuty then done. Just keep an eye on your health and kite it.
How do I hug it? I really want to see this happen
Net and build a trap with x3 Dino doorways and x2 gates around body. Then KO with tranq darts or narc arrows.
PS make sure their feet are inside the trap as they can stand up outside your trap.
Be careful when attempting to approach a Yutyrannus as it may have Carnos with it (That are probably damaged buffed), if you have a quetz (or anything that can pick up Carnos), attempt to grab the carnos to draw them away from the Yuty (Or kill them outright, although the Yuty may take damage), making it less dangerous. At this point, when the carnos are gone, build and lead the Yuty into the trap WITHOUT A DINO. If you bring a dino with you at this point, it will likely be scared from the roars, screwing you over. After the Yuty is detained, it's a simple wailing of torpor till the big fluffy dinos gives up the ghost, which is when you feed it to have a cute, deadly, strength inducing badass that is the Yutyrannus!
Let me give you some advice if can don’t try and solo tame these things it’s a pain trust me I tamed my first one it took over a hour and a half just to get it trapped but when trapped super easy tame when you get rid of Carnos
The fear roar doesn't work on rexes and bigger dinos and makes some dinos turn aggro. The ally boost effects dinos for different rates of time.
4 Stone gateways with 2 gateway doors is all you need to trap one, just put them in order with tiny gaps so you can get out.. put the first door on and then go and shoot him, get him after you and as soon as he in, put the second door behind him and go out the gaps, easy as can be 👍
My taming strat: get a good argentavis to lure away + kill surrounding carnos. Park the argy on a high rock somewhere, then come in with a good Rex (at least 4500 health), aggro the Yuty, set Rex to passive, and jump off. Shoot the Yuty while it's distracted by the Rex. Make sure your movement speed and stamina are high so you can chase it down when it starts to run.
Wanna tame this fluffy predator? I’m going to tell you step by step how to tame one!; 1 for this tame you are definitely going to need some supplies, this is of course what I recommend bringing! I recommend a net gun, at least 5, this is because when a yutyrannus spawns in, they have 3/4 Carnos that spawn with them! Make sure to bring more nets just in case! If you don’t have access to the net gun the best bet for you is a trap, or the chaotic way! If you are low leveled I would recommend useing the trap as it’s a safe way of getting the yuty to stay in a specific area for safety and easy taming! You need 4 stone gates, and gateways, and like the Giga you place three in a box shape, and save the last one, put the beartrap in the middle of the trap once the yuty gets stuck on the trap run in behind it and put the final gate and gateway down! The chaotic way involves running arround tryna knock it out! Ok let’s back tack for a second I’m getting of the topic I was talking about. Ok For this tame you will need At least 200 narcotics or toxin, 200 is just to be safe as they’re torpor goes down slightly quicker that the Rex’s, I also strongly recommend bringing kibble, or prime (mutton works great as well) also pack tranq darts, and a good ‘old rifle! 2 spawn locations! These guys spawn on almost every map, aberration is the only one excluded from having yutys. I notice that most of the yutys I find spawn in the Antarctic regions, the map I find them most commonly at has to be crystal isles! Anyways now it’s time for 3 There are quite a few ways this could go wrong so i would suggest having a backup plan in case things go south! For this it would be ok to bring a tame with you, i suggest a flying mount! Also make sure if your on lost island to pack a few parachutes! I can list a few things you should be careful about taming this creature; 1, it’s fear roar, it will give you a debuff and if your riding a small creature it will panic and fly everywhere without warning regardless if your riding it or not! 2 it’s Carno gang, it’s carnos will get a dmg and resistance buff when the yuty roars, making them a dangerous threat, I recommend a net gun to get them out of the way then dispatch them later! (Feel free to tame the high levels if you want :D) 3 the yuty, the yuty being a carnivore uses it gang of carnos to help it in battle, and it’s most common prey is mammoths once it attacks something it will not stop chasing it unless it sees some easier prey, and as mammoths are docile, they will go after the yuty, This will end poorly for the yuty, so when this happens if you desire to tame that yuty you will have to help it kill the creatures tryna kill it! (These are just a list of possible mishaps, they are just common mistakes not all of these will happen, but sometimes one of these will and that’s just part of learning! :D) Now the knockout! I recommend a flyer to safely scout the area for a yuty, I recommend taming a higher level, if you plan on doing a boss! Having trouble finding one? Then listen carefully as you fly arround as the main giveaway of a yutyrannus’s position it’s of course its roar, you can here it from a distance and they are pretty easy to spot! Next if you are a low level you will have a choice trap or nets, the nets are the safer option to take everything down easily, with a trap you have to maneuver the yuty in with out the carnos getting in or coming after you! So I recommend armorif you plan on doing this! If you plan on netting, make sure nothing is after the yuty, if it’s all clear, shoot the carnos down first, and if you want to try to lead it somewhere I guess that’s alright, but I recommend knocking it out where it was, once you happy where the yuty is slap it with a net, and shoot it in the head with tranqs, be careful not to over do it! Once it’s out, that’s the hardest part done, now to feed it, kibble works best, but good quality meat works great too, I recommend mutton or prime, if you have no prime then luckily for you the carnos you used a net on, have a little bit of prime, it’s not a lot but it should be enough to tame it! Make sure you feed it some narcotics here and there and eventually you tamed the fluffiest predator on the ark! Congrats, but why to tame this? Here’s some good reasons it’s great! :D) 1. Fear roar, no matter what tame you have other than humans, they give a temporary special buff, this buff increases damage output, and put some resistance to input! Making this fluffy creature a common tame for boss slayers, also a decently fast mount, and a decent damage output, Very clearly this tame was meant for the boss battles and pvp wars, but it can be repurposed for whatever fulfills you! Happy taming! And take care!
I will never go back to tedious taming traps again now that the net exists! It took me about 5 nets using SHOCK darts to knock out a level 140, and the nets have about 10 seconds before they can be used on the same dino again. Net it, tranq it, get back on your flier, wait, and land to repeat the process again. I did this by myself with little trouble other than getting the yuty to not run into water.
Also watch it when yiu think you're about to KO it. It can be hard to tell at first glance whether it is simply trapped in the net or fully knocked out.
When trying to knock it out, if it roars it resets torpor like a giga.
They spawn mostly in the Arctic to my knowledge, they arn't hard to trap, just use a taming raft.
