Tips & Strategies
Quick and easy way to tame a raptor
Step 1: craft a bola or two
Step 2: throw the bola at the raptor (it might run at you, so do it quick)
Step 3: knock it out with tranq arrows (bring 10+ arrows)
Step 4: once the raptor is knocked out you can feed it raw meat, raw fish meat or raw prime meat (if the meat is cooked it’s even better) prime meat is the best meat you can feed it. Up this if it was useful.
Try to stay in flat open land, this allows you to easily snare the raptor with a bola. Approach slowly until it runs straight at you then throw the bola at it. Once hit with the bola you can easily KO it using any method you choose.
Use parasuar kibble for faster and higher level tames if possible since you need less than 30 kibbles for a perfect 100+ level tame. It may also be easier at lower levels since gathering meat can sometimes be difficult and parasuars are easy tames.
Utility Roles for Raptor:
1. Long range Scout: Raptors, due to their speed and pack buff, make great scouts if you can get more than 2. The only creature in the early-game that outclasses it in scouting is the Ptera, which can fly so has a distinct advantage (level Health and Movement Speed).
2. Light Cavalry Brigade: PvP servers only. Raptors have a very weird hitbox. By my investigations it seems that they can have either a big hitbox or a small hitbox. Regardless, a pack of these can be used to soften up the regular defenses of a base on PvP while your tankier tames soak up the turrets. Obviously combined with armor from saddles they are a force to be reckoned with (level Health and Melee).
3. Storage? Yep, the Raptor can make a very good storage box for meat, since most carnivores give meat a longer spoil time. But I like to use the Raptor for collecting spoiled meat to make narcotics (level weight if you want...meat doesn't weigh that much lol).
4. Attack Dogs. A pack of Raptors is vicious. I'm sure we all have stories of how we first encountered these things and were torn to shreds by them in the early game. If you can harness that power for yourself, you are a force to be reckoned with because of their high DPS! (level Melee Damage and a little Health).
My name is ShinyChimchar01 and if you like my tip, please up to let me know! My next tip will be for the Parasaur
They CAN go through DOORFRAMES not just DOUBLE DOORFRAMES. you HAVE to put a door on it for them not to be able to go through.
The simplest way to catch these guys is to bola them.
A high rock is ideal, but I’ve had that blow in my face a couple of times. Here’s how I do it:
1.) get in raptor’s line of sight with your bola already swinging. He’ll run in a straight line towards you… it’s hard not to miss.
2.) hit raptor with bola just as he is about to grab you, so there’s no chance of you missing.
3.) get behind trapped raptor and beat him unconscious with either club or fists. The reason I say behind is that if you’re in front and you approach him, he can grab and pin you still. Learned this the hard way once or twice…
You got him! Feed it raw meat, and enjoy. I have five lvl 10-20 raptors, and they kill theris and carnos in a matter of seconds. They’re a must have.
Always at the wrong place and wrong time
Dont. Be scared of this guy
U can just bola and tame it using some tranq arrows or slingshot
(When i first encountered it i was scared but do not be scared haha)

Easy way how to find a raptors and tame them.
Step 1. Get a pteranodon
Step 2. Fly in the air and look around groups of other dinos (do this because raptors spawn by small dinos) if that deosnt work here’s another way.
Part 2 Step 1. Get a pteranodon and fly to a river or spawn at a river.
Here’s how to tame one very easily.
Step 1. Find a raptor all alone fighting some weak and small
Step 2. Craft a Bola and throw it at the raptor
Step 3. Craft a bow/sling shot and craft some tranq arrows or get some rocks
Step 4. Shoot the raptor while it’s trapped in the bola
Step 5. Get some raw meat or some parasaur kibble and put the food up it’s butt and there’s your new pet.
Up👆 For noobs to see this and if this helped you.
Bolas are the best for Raptor taming.
TLC patch coming March 2018 adding a pack bonus wherein the leader roars and the pack gains damage resistance, movement speed, and attack speed buff for 15 seconds with a 45 second cooldown, will also gain a pounce and pin move similar to Thylocoleo which can be used on small creatures or players. Kill it to escape.
Raptor Taming List(in tiers):
Regular Tier (Levels 1, 10 and so on and so fourth):
Easy. Someone about the same level with its exact same health just a little faster than it can do it. Protect it well though, because one wrong move and your little friend is… well, inside something elses stomach, probably.
Requires: Bola, at least 10% more speed than the raptor itself, and a club or slingshot with rocks
Medium Tier (Levels 30, 50 and onwards)
You probably broke a sweat, because this one’s torpor capacity was a little higher, and it probably almost got out of that fancy bola of yours! This one’s also a toughie though, considering the slightly higher level.
Requirements: Same as regular, with slightly higher health this time and 30% faster in the event that it breaks out of the bola and you cant land the final tranq
Experienced/High Tier(Levels 70/80, 100 and onwards)
Hopefully you know what you’re doing, because that could’ve gone WAY worse. More torpor, more melee, more health, more problems until tamed.
Requirements: Ascendant Bow, as torpor scales with damage dealt. Bola as usual, bio toxin, and toxicant arrows if possible. Clubs will no longer cut it, much less slingshots.
DAAAAYUM Tier(Levels 200-250, 300 and onwards): High level raptors are like new cars; they last a long time and under the right care are ready whenever you need them, but are also somewhat pricy (resource wise) to tame.
Requirements: Same as experienced/high level tier, with the exception that toxicant arrows should be much more preferrable despite how long it takes to craft/obtain them.
Mastercraft Tier (levels 400 and onwards until 500): Whoa. The raptor you just tamed is armed to absolute TEETH. Better get an Ascendant saddle for it, since for whatever reason Ascendant is better than Mastercraft, which is odd. Also don’t- HEY WHAT ARE YOU DOING DON’T POUNCE M—
Requirements: Same as the other 2 tiers (before this one).
Champion Tier(Eerie Raptor, Especially higher levels)
This one didn’t come easy, lemme tell ‘yah. After all, it wasn’t the easy things that got you to the point of earning this one… IT WAS THE ONES THAT FELT NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE! But alas, you survived the dungeon, did the deed, and now you have a raptor of a rare breed.
Requirements: These arent for just anyone. You must survive the dungeons or you cannot take the implant with, meaning that rather than just one more tame, this raptor, as well as any other creature with the “Eerie Effect” is to be treated as a “living trophy” of sorts. Only the worthy survivors will ever get this. So sorry folks, but until you can survive a dungeon, these creatures are outta your league. If you can survive the dungeons however, the rest of the procedure is simply revival, and which-ever procedure corresponds to its tier/level.
“Rare Gem” Tier: While breeding, you hatched a raptor that looks absolutely INSANE! Raptors of this color scheme cannot be found naturally, so you have found quite the prize. Keep an eye on it for now though; as this one’s gonna be hungry for a while and wants some attention.
Requirements: Breed 2 pre-existing raptors of opposite gender, and hatch an egg. If the parents already came from breeding to begin with, especially mutliple generations of breeding, you’ll probably have a higher chance of getting something amazing.
There. Every type of raptor that you can possibly obtain. Thanks for the read.
How to tame a raptor!!!
Now,let’s start packing
You will need
1:Raw meat
2:narcotic (if you have motor and pestle)
3:bow and arrow(tranq arrows.you don’t want to kill the thing)
4:bolas(it’s always safe to bring extras)
5:a club
Now that we are done packing, let’s see what kind of taming mode you wanna do
Mode 1:Get on top of a rock and shoot it with tranqs and a bola
Mode2:hit it with a club or fists
Choose one of those modes and go try it!
One time near the swamp, i saw a pack of raptors. There were 9 raptors in that pack. That's all i have to say.
-Someone, somewhere in the world.
Use your expendable friend as bait
Oh my god. So stressful. While we were taming a Tapejara, my Baryonyx got stuck. Then a raptor came. I thought the raptor couldn’t fit through the gaps of the wooden spike wall. But because my Baryonyx was stuck, he couldn’t protect me. Suddenly the raptor got inside and killed the Tapejara and my 3x taming boost. I was so angry. I got my Baryonyx and brutally murdered that disgusting ugly raptor. 1 second. After the bloody mess, I dimmed the lights and sadly brang my Baryonyx to look for more Tapejaras.
1 like = another lvl 10 Tapejara found.
