Quetz usually spawn at red obelisk, if you don't see one wait a few minutes for t to spawn. If you are looking for a high level kill the lower level one so it another can respawn
If you drop a quetzal due to knockout, and it lands next to a giga...just know, the quetzal belong to the giga. Now you get to watch your would be quetzal get eaten by a giga. Now you can go home and cry.
Quetzals, one of the best dinos. Quetzals can easily be tamed with a buddy, all you need is a flying dino that can pick up people or has a multi-seat saddle. Load up with the appropriate tranq arrows, narcotics, food and set off across the map to find one. Low levels are brilliant for beginners as they can serve as brilliant carriers due to their high base weight stat. Higher levels however mainly are used as "Battle Quetzals", alongside the high stats it will receive from being tamed, pumping health and melee damage is the way to go. With that being said you'll be able to tank base defences such as PSX and Auto Turrets, aswell as kill dangerous dinos with ease. Maybe either of those don't tickle your fancy, then hey, make a "Party Quetzal"! Strap on some chairs, tables, food and lots more onto the Quetzal's Platform Saddle and hover in the air as you dance to Darude Sandstorm being blasted through someone's mic in game chat. If you can get a quetzal, do consider as they are brilliant!
When you tame your first quetzal, you should make it into a quetz trapper... if you are wanting more... if you don't know what a quetz trap is, go to YouTube! If you can tame a low level one to start! Being able to tame as many quetzals as you want with the trap, is RIDICULOUS!
To solo tame, grapple to an argentavis, and be ready to set your argentavis to passive and attack my target on command. Just maintain a process of having your argentavis chase the quetzal, when you get close enough set it passive, then fire a tranq dart/arrow. This is a long process, but it is by far the easiest way to solo tame, unless you already have a quetzal.
Make sure you don't smoke bud when taming or he might wake up
This tip is only if you already have a quetzal available. The easiest way to tame a quetz, is to build a quetz catcher. You can make it out of thatch and its hands down the best tactic. A lot of YouTube videos available on how to build one. Knock it out in the catcher, and you don't have to worry about it getting hit.
For 'The Center' map the common spawn locations tend to be near any obelisk, as well as around 55,45 or cruising around the entirety of Jungle South. It's worth checking around lava island too.
Instead of using a tracker just place a bead on the quetz so u can respawn or teleport to it
If you are looking to tame a Quetzal, you need a good lvl TapeJara and a buddy to shoot at the Quetz. I recommend using tranq darts because otherwise you will need a lot of arrows.
Low levels seem to spawn neared red obbi on the island. If you're looking for one, head over there

Be careful taming a quetz in a catcher while still in the air. The tame moves a little bit and can push you out.
There is usually at least one quetz roaming around the red obelisk and craggs Island. Go over there and kill any and all quetzals that aren't of your liking, and then fly to above the nearby swamp or The end of the red lake (or further). Then fly back and be sure to check above the beach area between craggs and the obelisk which is separated to craggs by a thin water path. If no quetzal has spawned there then look around and west of the obelisk. If no quetzal has been found in either area then try flying further away or waiting 10 sec before going back. This method works especially well on evolution event which is when I've mostly tried it. Good luck!
Tamed it with cooked fish meat and missed my girlfriend's birthday and our wedding.
I think it is good to tame the lowest lvl you can find then give it a platform saddle and then tame you high lvl
Ever since the flyer nerf, they don't regain stamina if you dismount and stand on the platform saddle. You can, however, use a grapple hook if you really need to or you're raiding. Just grapple to it until full stam and you're good
You need to fix your knock out numbers. This app is good but they are never correct.
If you found one, don't blink while chasing. Don't. Blink.
If you tame this cooked fish meat your a god and deserve a medal
