Taming & KO Tips
How do I tame a ichthyosaurus? Tips and strategies on taming and knocking out a ichthyosaurus.
Wait so a meg can jump out of the water but not these guys
The Ichtyosaurus is VERY useful! You can easily tame them using raw meat (not fish meat like the goofy pursuit says) or the EASIEST KIBBLE, dodo kibble.
Just passively feed them by placing the food in hot bar, approaching the Ichthy, and tapping on the food to feed. The Ichthys make this easier by following you around.
Once tamed, they are generally ignored by aquatic predators, but only if you're riding it. Ichthys that aren't being rode on will be attacked.
They do decent damage and attack fast, so have fun killing Megalodons with your low level Ichthy (like I did).
Since there's no way to post it on the actual creatures wall I think I should warn everyone whilst taming these beautiful ichthyosaurus watch out and I mean watch out for any Cnidaria jellyfish they will shock you to oblivion I was caught taming when 4 of these guys jumped me and I absolutely freaked out
So yeah Cnidaria are easy to kill but keep your distance!
Take a tame with you it will try to play with it and stay close by so you can tame it easily! I don’t know if this only works on mobile
Get dodo kibble then boom (on mobile you get a free saddle for doing the mission and nothing agros to you when you ride it.)
If you having hard time chasing this creature to feed it,just dont chase it,better try to run away from them like 1 meter and you'll see he's the one chasing you and just dont move and feed it,no need trap (Mobile btw,idk about pc or other platforms)
Don’t kill jelly’s with this guy or he’s dead
Prepare kible, prepare Lazarus chowder, find one,use Lazarus chowder, hook it with grapling hook, feed and tame
Dont feed it raw fish meat!!! Normal raw meat tames literally so much quicker up so more people can see
Here's how to tame a ichthy.
1. You will want to search the ocean. They aren't hard to find, so seeing one will be no biggie.
2. Once you spot some/one, get some fish meat.
3. When you have the fish meat, go to the ichthy or the ichthy will come to you.
4. They are very friendly, so you don't have to worry about being killed; except for the creatures around it that will attack you.
5. Feed it fish until its tamed.
6. Now you have an ichthy!
It takes faster and easier with raw meat. But Dododex thinks it only eats raw pine meat and raw prime fish meat.
Also rip mine.
He was a friend to me :(
With the release of ASA these things become a lot harder to tame. The movement speed nerf really impacted this early game tame. Since you can’t even match the speed of these with flippers, catching up to it is impossible on foot. SAVE YOURSELF AN HOUR OF SWIMMING AFTER THESE AND BUILD A TRAP!!
For an early game tame; wild card made these very hard to get in ASA.
A basi is way easier to tame then these. That’s saying something. WC really messed this one up, big thumbs down 👎🏻👎🏻
Still get unnerved by how nothing will arggo while riding an itchy- drove past dozens of megalodon and mantas and didn’t get attacked. Don’t get off near any aggressive creature tho- because it will kill you on site
Everyone saying that on ark mobile when you put a saddle on them nothing attacks them thats such a lie. I had an ichthy called michael and as soon as i tamed and put a saddle on him he got attacked by a pair of mated megoladons and i could do nothing but watch. It was a sad day :(
They are early game tames but I’m in mid game and STILL haven’t got these things because of those stupid stupid sharks!
If your ever gonna want too start taming sea creatures this is the must have. It’s the fastest underwater mount and you unlock its saddle at a lower level. Great for collecting oil.
It is passive tame
Make a trap, lead it inside the trap, place a Ceiling so it doesnt get out, use a soothing balm or minor balm or major balm, tame it with dodo kibble, enjoy (◠‿◕)
Don’t worry about aggressive or territorial creatures on ichy. I think even sarcos leave u alone. Don’t walk up to one with a ichy tho cuz I still dont know for sure. (This is for mobile)
Tried taming it where 15 megaladons were... did not go well. I tamed it barely and immediately all the megaladons attacked it, killed it, and ate it...
Yeah, bad day.
