Tips & Strategies
I am unsure why people say “Use spoiled meat”. My friend told me to but I brought Large animal Feces (keep in mind, I’m in mobile so it says what it wants from your inventory. Usually the BEST food for that one) and it wanted the dung. It tamed in 2 pieces. Don’t need to up.
While spoiled meat seems the easy way to go for taming, if you want to be more effective, poop is the way… easy way to get a load of fresh excrement for your beetle ? Just take a tame with you… and feed them lots of stimberries ! At the cost of your pets intestines, they shall have a new friend soon :)
This may not work for everyone, but it works for me. I took a saber down in the Central Cave (maxed at lvl 190 so not a good one at all), I ran past all the creatures that were hostile until I came across a dung beetle, once I found one, I killed any creatures that followed me/ are with the beetle, you don't need an amazing tame to kill these creatures, once isolated from all dangers, feed large animal feces until fully tamed, what I did was collect feces from my T-Rex'S (I only have 4 and it took about 5 minutes to get 10 large feces) hope this helps!
Just feed it poop you don’t have to knock it out.
A good Southern Cave Set
Longneck Rifle: Keep enough ammo and durability to one shot low lvl Spiders and boas
The Direbear hunt Sword: Obtained through the Direbear Hunt Quest on Mobile, very powerful in a close range setting
Whatever you loot from the corpses: You can find weapons in these guys(somehow), which can keep you going for longer
Pike: If you absolutely run out of options, but don’t want torpor inflicted, this is a good option to keep them away, looted spears work well too.
Spoiled Meat: If you happen to knock out a creature there or stumble across a dung beetle, don’t hesitate to tame one so your life is easier.
Jerky or Cooked Meat: Cooked food restores a little hp every time it’s consumed, and jerky lasts longer(Cooked meat can also turn into spoiled meat)
Water containers: There is little accessible water in caves, so bringing some will be your best ally.
An Aggro Immune Mount: Some say that a cave tamed Araneo on mobile has the immunity to aggro like itchys, just so long as they fit through the entrance
A torch: So you can see without the light of crystals
Strong Armor: While most creatures in the south cave do little to no damage, the centipede is one of the toughest and deadly foes in there.
Up if you found the set helpful
On the island, I think the easiest place to find them is in the lower south cave. Go in with a longneck or a shotgun, turn left at the first intersection, kill the boas and spiders I. The first chamber, near the end of it there’s usually 1-3 beetles. Tame, and carry back to base w/ Petra. Easy fertilizer.
Turns human and dino poop into oil and fertilizer. Make sure the dung beetle is on wander and has plenty of poop, it takes about 15 min per cycle.
1 Human poop becomes 1 fertilizer and 2 oil
2 Small poops become 1 fertilizer and 2 oil
1 Medium poop becomes 2 fertilizer and 4 oil
1 Large poop becomes 3 fertilizer and 6 oil
1 massive poop becomes 16 Fertilizer and 14 oil.
Every cycle can do one "transaction" for each type of poop for a maximum of 7 fertilizer and 14 oil without massive poop or 23 fertilizer and 28 oil with a massive poop.
If you have a tribe mate have one of you pick up the wild beetle with a large bird, such as an argent, the you can tame the beetle in its talons without it roaming around
I found one of these unclaimed on the beach, 22 seconds from dying of negligence, i claimed brought to my base and named it goober, later that night all my progress was gone due to some dude with a quetz
If you wish to find these, look hard in the south cave. There is bound to be one there
Best way to tame these guys is get as much rotten meat as possible and go find em, once found, try to take out all nearby bad animals and start feedin’. Up if u thought this was useful. ;)
